Gemco Players Community Theatre

Gemco Players Community Theatre We are a community theatre company set in Emerald, Victoria, with an emphasis on quality performance and a friendly atmosphere.

The name Gemco stands for the townships in the Ranges: Gembrook, Emerald, Monbulk, Macclesfield, Menzies Creek, and Cockatoo Community Theatre. The aims and objectives of Gemco Players are:

To encourage community involvement in the performing arts
To develop skills in all aspects of theatre
To provide live entertainment to the people of Emerald and the surrounding district
To provide a vehicle fo

r locally written productions
To manage and maintain The Gem Community Arts Centre as a community oriented venue for arts related activities, public and private meeting and occassional classes and events as may be requested by various community groups. Gemco Players runs an active youth theatre programme which engages over 100 members. Gemco was the driving force behind the development of The Gem Community Arts Centre which was opened in 2009.

We send our condolences and much love to Caine, one of our actors and youth leaders in Gemco, on the loss of his mum.
She supported Caine right to the end in his endeavours in the theatre and we will continue to care for and support him. 🌹🌹

And finally to our One Act Play Festival committee.
Mandy doubling as tech, Mat doubling as caterer/coffee man and general fix it person, Michelle who doubles as marketing, creating the awards by hand, and acting as MC, and Cat who literally does absolutely everything else.
Together as a team, this is our fourth year organising the entire festival from the first invites to the companies, to the digital program, to sourcing grants and finance, to all the marketing, to running of the weekend, and everything in between.
We are so proud of our little friendly festival and we can't wait for next years big 30 years!

Just a moment to thank some of the team and supporters who we couldn't make this festival happen without. Our volunteers, our tech team Cat, Mandy, Tom and Ruby. Steve who rigged all our lights. Margie, Michelle and Mat for all the amazing cooking. Our bar team serving drinks all weekend run by Fiona. Our tickets team helping everyone check in including Graeme, Sarah, Amber, and so many more. The teachers and youth leaders from schools who give up their time and weekends to help young people participant in a one act play festival.

To Bill, who supports everything we do, compliments everyone, and now even has a special reserved chair. A6.

And to our adjudicator Richard who found the joy in every single play, who offered his feedback so willingly, and made everyone feel special.

And so the 29th Dandenong Ranges One Act Play Festival comes to a close.
We had a wonderful weekend and how great to catch up with so many theatre friends and family.
No matter if you had one line or many, if this was your hundredth time treading the boards or your very first time, the spirit of community theatre was strong. Thankyou to all our entries from so many companies, to all our volunteers to make this incredible festival, and to our adjudicator Richard.

A message From the President:
🎭 **GEMCO PLAYERS IS NOW A REGISTERED CHARITY!** 🎭

We’re proud to announce that GEMCO Players Community Theatre is now registered as a **charity**.

And we’re taking the next step! 🚀

We are now working towards **Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement**, which would mean eligible donations to GEMCO could potentially be tax deductible for donors.

As part of the DGR application, we need to make a small amendment to our Constitution to establish a dedicated **GEMCO Players Community Theatre Gift Fund**.

A Special Resolution will be put to members to make this amendment.

This is an exciting step for GEMCO and will help us build stronger opportunities for fundraising, philanthropy and support for the future of our community theatre. ❤️
