We’re being more mindful about how we document and celebrate children’s learning at The Sanctuary At Hillside.

Sometimes that means capturing from behind, focusing on little hands at work, or sharing the magic of a moment rather than a face.

Every photo you see has been shared with consent from families, or sometimes even from the child who’s proudly asked, “Can you take a photo of me?” 📸✨

It’s not about sharing less, but about sharing smarter, because children’s safety, dignity and voice always come first. 🌿

It’s such a privilege to have the opportunity to meet Anthony Semann and be part of an Educational Leaders Conference that brings together some of the most passionate and knowledgeable minds in our sector. Hearing from industry professionals about their approaches to documentation in the early years is not only inspiring but also incredibly empowering.

This space offers the chance to explore new perspectives, challenge our own thinking, and deepen our understanding of how documentation can truly capture the richness of children’s learning journeys. It’s a reminder that, as leaders, we have the ability to shape how stories are told, voices are heard, and learning is valued in ways that are authentic and meaningful.

Introduction of woodwork to the pre-prep room ~ 🔨

Woodwork offers children an opportunity to enhance their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem solving abilities. The children created hand made cars from timber blocks, nails, and hammers in a small group setting. The children expressed a great sense of accomplishment while later using their creative and imaginative skills to decorate their woodwork cars.

We can not wait to offer more woodwork for the kindergarten children… watch this space 🔍
