Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful dads, grandfathers, and special father figures in our Kool Kidz Rowville community! 💙

We had such a fantastic time celebrating with everyone at our service, from capturing sweet moments in our handmade photo frames to sharing playdough pizza making, outdoor play, and lots of smiles.

Thank you to all the amazing father figures who joined us and made the day so special for our little ones. We hope you all enjoy a wonderful, relaxing day filled with love! 👔✨

Drawing ✍️ A Special Person

The Dragonflies children were excited to prepare for Father’s Day by drawing a special person in their lives. The children carefully observed the demonstration and practised using a black permanent pen 🖊️ with a smaller tip. They were encouraged to use the correct tripod grip and develop control while holding the smaller pen.🖊️

After completing their drawings, some children chose to add colour using watercolours. They enjoyed experimenting with different colours, mixing colours together, and observing how new colours were created in their artwork. Throughout the activity, the children proudly shared stories about their families and talked about the special people they were drawing. They were excited to share their finished creations with their peers and educators.

This experience provided valuable opportunities for the children to develop their early literacy skills, particularly practising the tripod grip and strengthening hand and finger control. It also supported the development of fine motor skills, creativity, colour exploration, communication, and confidence as the children shared their family experiences and expressed their ideas through art.

Our little learners had a fantastic time exploring the magic of the rainbow with Miss Erica! 🌈 To kick off our lesson, the children put on their thinking caps to count the colors in a rainbow and practice saying them in Mandarin:

🔴 Red — 红色 (hóngsè)

🟠 Orange — 橙色 (chéngsè)

🟡 Yellow — 黄色 (huángsè)

🟢 Green — 绿色 (lǜsè)

🔵 Blue — 蓝色 (lánsè)

🟦 Indigo — 靛色 (diànsè)

🟣 Purple — 紫色 (zǐsè)

🎨🚗 Creative Rainbow Tracks!

The real excitement started when Miss Erica brought out the ultimate hands-on art station! She prepped a tray with crisp paper, dollops of vibrant paint, and a fleet of cars and trains. 🚂💨

The children zoomed, rolled, and pushed the vehicles through the paint, leaving behind stunning, crisscrossing rainbow tracks and unique patterns. Watching their faces light up as their designs came to life was pure magic! 🎨✨

🖐️✨ HANDS-ON DISCOVERY FOR SCIENCE WEEK! ✨🖐️

Our inquisitive Dragonflies and Butterflies friends turned into mini-scientists today as they dove hands-first into the incredible world of our Sense of Touch! 🔬🧠

Throughout Science Week, our curious learners are exploring how our five main senses work as our body's ultimate superpower team. Today was all about our skin, the body's largest organ!

Here is what our sensory explorers got up to:

👋 Texture Investigation: Tiny hands and fingers were busy feeling, comparing, and describing a whole array of wild textures! From ultra-soft and fluffy to super rough and bumpy, the children had so much fun describing every single sensation.
📕 Big Discoveries: We read Big Book Of The Body and learned a mind-blowing fact... our skin is packed with millions of microscopic sensory receptors!
⚡ Brain Connections: The children were amazed to discover that these receptors act like little messengers, sending instant signals to our brains about touch, pressure, heat, and cold to keep us safe and healthy!

It was so exciting watching their faces light up as they connected the science to their own experiences. Science Week is off to a flying start! 🚀🌟

🦷 Little Dentists at Work! 🪥✨

Following our dental incursion at Kool Kidz Rowville, our little learners in the Dragonflies Room were bubbling with curiosity and stories about their check-ups! To extend their real-world experiences, the educators transformed the children's play space into a hands-on dramatic dentist clinic. 🩺✨

Stepping confidently into the roles of dentists and patients, the children used real-life tools, examined teeth drawings, checked X-rays, and filled out check-up forms—bringing their imaginative scenarios to life with so much excitement! 🪥😊

Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Connections:

Outcome 1: Children feel safe, confident, and empowered to share their real-life experiences and take on new roles.

Outcome 2: Children explore social roles, practise taking turns, negotiate, and work cooperatively with friends.

Outcome 4: Children express wonder and curiosity while connecting real-world learning to imaginative play.

Outcome 5: Children build communication skills, extend their dental health vocabulary, and use symbols and print (like check-up forms and X-rays) to convey meaning.

Honoring Jemma Stapleton 🤍

At Kool Kidz Rowville, community is at the heart of everything we do, and some individuals leave an imprint on our hearts that stays with us forever. Jemma Stapleton was truly one of those beautiful souls. ✨

To celebrate her life, her vibrant spirit, and the joy she brought to our centre, we have created a memorial space here at Kool Kidz Rowville. This will be a special, peaceful place where her memory can live on, and where our educators, children, and families can pause, reflect, and remember the warmth she shared with us all.

Jemma will always be a cherished part of our Kool Kidz Rowville family. We are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and strength of our wonderful community as we come together to honor her legacy.

Condolences and Support: In Memory of Jemma Stapleton

Dear KKR Families,

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share some devastating news regarding a beloved member of our Kool Kidz Rowville community. Our cherished educator, Jemma Stapleton, passed away while being on a family holiday to Thailand.

We were only made aware of this heartbreaking news yesterday late afternoon, and details remain very limited at this stage. Like all of you, our entire team is in a state of shock and deep sorrow over the sudden loss of such a vibrant, caring, and dedicated young woman. Jemma brought an irreplaceable warmth and kindness to our community, leaving a lasting, positive impact on the lives of the children, families, and colleagues she worked with. Her absence leaves a profound void in our hearts; she was truly taken from us far too soon.

To honor her memory and support her family through this unimaginable tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been established. The funds raised will assist with the significant costs of bringing Jemma home to Melbourne, allowing her family, friends, and colleagues to gather, celebrate her beautiful life, and say their final farewells.

🍁🍂 Autumn Trees - Fork Painting 🍂🍁

The children in our Ladybugs room have been loving our art and craft activities lately! We’ve noticed so much active participation and pure enthusiasm whenever the paints come out. Since painting is a major current interest for many of the children, today we explored a unique texture experience: Autumn Tree Fork Painting! 🌳🎨

Instead of traditional brushes, the children dipped plastic forks into vibrant autumn colors and tapped them onto the paper. This clever technique created a beautiful pattern of lines, mimicking the falling leaves of the season. They repeated the process, layering different colors to create their own unique, beautiful autumn trees.

Not only was it incredibly fun, but it was also a fantastic way to develop fine motor skills and explore cause-and-effect through creative expression.

🎨 EYLF Learning Outcomes:
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, and imagination.

The Heart of Mentorship in the Honeybees Room! 🐝💛

We are feeling so proud today! One of our wonderful students just finished her placement in the Honeybees room, and she left behind this incredibly touching note and gift for our Room Leader, Jemma.

Seeing the "flavor map" for the chocolates and reading such kind words reminds us why we do what we do. Jemma, your patience, guidance, and passion for early childhood education don't just inspire the children—they shape the next generation of educators.
