At Kmart, we take the quality and safety of our products very seriously, which is why we would like to advise you of a product safety recall.

The products are being recalled because the sand may include asbestos, which is a prohibited substance in Australia. Customers should immediately stop using the products and safely dispose of the products. Information on the disposal of asbestos waste, including disposal facilities in your state or territory, can be found on The Asbestos and Silica Safety and Eradication website.

Customers should contact Kmart to arrange a full refund with or without a receipt. Contact Kmart Customer Service on 1800 124 125 Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm (AEST)

Sand contamination alert

Dear colleagues

We have been informed of a recall notice for children’s coloured sand products that may contain asbestos. Please be aware that the advice from the relevant authorities is that the risk represented by the product is low, however, out of caution we are alerting you to this issue.

The sand is made by supplier Educational Colours and is sold by Officeworks and other retailers.

What we know so far
The products are labelled as:

Kadink Sand (1.3kg)

Educational Colours, Rainbow Sand (1.3kg)

Creatistics, Coloured Sand (1kg).

And

Kadink Decorative sand 10g 6 pack.

Purchase date range
The products were sold in Australia between 2020 and 2025.

Suppliers
The products were sold at suppliers across Australia including at Officeworks, Educating Kids, Modern Teaching Aids and Zart Art.
