Last week our educators participated in a professional development workshop with Annette Sax from Yarn Strong Sista.

We had the opportunity to learn about the cultural significance of Ochre and create our own artwork using traditional Ochre paints that we made.

Through this hands-on experience, we deepened our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives while reflecting on how we can continue to create culturally safe, respectful and inclusive learning environments for our children and families.

We are grateful to Yarn Strong Sista’s founder Annette for generously sharing her knowledge, stories and culture with us. We can’t wait to embed our new skills into our curriculum and share everything the children create.

Last week, our children engaged with a range of experiences that celebrated and honoured Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives. These provided opportunities for meaningful conversations about identity, belonging, respect and the rich histories of First Nations peoples.
We are proud to create a learning environment that support children's understanding of diversity, inclusion and respect for the world's oldest continuing cultures.
