Science Week at WaSPS kicked off with a bit of magical investigation. Ella and Laura (STEM Captains) along with Miss Simon organised a fabulous Magic Milk experiment. The STEM room was buzzing. A bit of milk, food colouring, dish detergent and a toothpick – let the magic begin. We wondered, hypothesised, experimented, analysed and discussed conclusions. The conversations engaged continued to ask more. We can’t wait to explore the Air Hockey Hovercrafts on Tuesday.

What a day we had in Prep celebrating Milo Monkey’s birthday. All his friends came together for a great day of games, learning and celebrating. We enjoy learning phonics with Milo and his friends everyday.

Drone mission on Mars. Today at KIOSC Swinburne University we were given a mission to program drones to negotiate the landscape of Mars to deliver the produce. So much learning, persistence, collaboration and negotiation. What an experience and better still we did succeed.

Budding scientists in action!
Our Preps are exploring different ways items move. We explored push, bounce and stretch as we made cloud dough. Mixing with our hands we mixed corn starch and conditioner together. Exploration and experiments are so much fun! We can’t wait for Science Week.

The Setup. The Games. The Celebration!
Inspired by Australia on top in Glasgow, WaSPS held the Games more local. Table tennis, lawn bowls, hockey, balloon volleyball, skateboard swimming and much more was enjoyed in the WaSPS Games. A fabulous event organised by our student leaders and Mr McKenzie. Engagement, excitement, friendly competition – everyone was a winner!

Breakfast Club has arrived at WaSPS. Today we had our first session of breakfast club. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to come and mingle with their friends prior to commencing school. The menu was simple but seemed to hit the spot. We will run the Breakfast Club each Thursday morning from 8.15am to 8.40am at the Prep rooms. A huge thank you is expressed to Mrs Simnett and Miss Shaw (who were also celebrating 100 days of Prep) for helping our Buzz Captains with this initiative.

A great day of basketball by our boys and girls basketball teams at Dandenong Stadium today for the District Basketball competition. The competition was fierce with a win early in the day by the boys. Both teams finished with a win in their final games. Well done to everyone who played!
