Dinner. Aussie style beef tacos from the KHPS cookbook. Thanks Mrs Funnell for the excellent tuition.
Rookie error. I will admit, I left my Year 6 daughter to learn independently in Week 1. Not the best strategy. After reading Sherri's lovely letter to all over the weekend, and realising that parents are NOT teachers, I resolved to do things differently in Week 2. So, this morning, I sat down with my daughter and looked through all of the useful and helpful teaching aids that have been prepared for our students in Google Classroom. I can now see EXACTLY what she needs to achieve, all of the worked examples for each level of maths, and the expectations for each day. My suggestion is that if you haven't yet sat with your child(ren) in front of their Google Classroom do it. I have just realised how much has been prepared and the depth of support that there is for our kids. And if your child isn't a natural student, there are heaps of other things that we can be doing together during this time to ensure our children are happy and healthy and supported.
Would anyone in our wonderful school community be interested in helping me take care of my bunny between Boxing Day and New Years Day?
I’ll pay $10 a day and provide all the food.
Rosie just needs letting out of my garage, water changing and hay refill every morning anytime between 6am-9am and then feeding and locking back up into the garage in the evening sometime between 7pm-11pm. She’ll enjoy a good stroke, but please don’t pick her up.
She free-ranges in my back garden during the day.
We live on Dianne Ct (just off Eunice Drive, off Farm Rd).
What time are the disco sessions tonight? I've lost my notice! TIA!
I apologise if I’ve missed some communication but I’m not sure what time I have to drop my Grade 2 off and pick him up again for the sleepover, which he tells me is this weekend? Have I missed a flier? I have a list of what to pack, just not times and dates. Thanks!
Hi All!
We are searching for some little ballers who might be interested in playing the summer season with Mentone Mustangs in the U 10’s boys team Dynamites. Must be born 2011.

Games are on Thursdays times vary from 4-6:30.
Contact me for more info 🏀🏀🏀
Thank you to the teachers and parent helpers that took and looked after our kids on ski camp! Jack had an awesome time and is already planning his next trip 😂😂⛷
Hi there, just checking the date of the November curriculum day? We were originally told it was 6th November but newsletter says it’s 1st November. Will be trying to sort childcare due to work commitments & just need clarification, TIA
Can someone tell me what the 3/4s need to bring on Monday for their excursion?
TIA
Has the notice for ordering Munchy Monday for next Monday 19th August, been distributed yet?
If it has and I’ve missed it: can someone please post a photo of the form in the comments?
Many thanks

How many days have our Foundation children enjoyed school?

100 days already!

Well done to our 2021 Foundation children you are learning independently and with others. Your enthusiasm and love of learning is amazing!

Today the Foundation students celebrated their 100 days in style! They dressed up by wearing 100 days T-shirts and they looked fantastic! We had fun counting 100 objects out - including shapes, dominos, counters and icypole sticks! We thought about how we could spend $100 and what we would do if we were 100 years old!

Well done to the KHPS girls soccer team. Our first game was a 1-1 draw against Cheltenham PS which we were unlucky not to win. Fantastic teamwork, outstanding defence and a great goal by Ruby. In our second game we came up OLA and unfortunately lost 5-1 however the game was much closer than the score shows. OLA scored two lucky goals and once again our teamwork, encouragement and defence was outstanding and was capped off by a great team effort leading to Ruby scoring another goal. Well done to all the team who played their hearts out and represented out school with pride.

What have our Year one learners been wondering and inquiring into this term?

Year 1 Students have been writing for purpose and a specialised audience. They are learning to persuade the Assistant Principal, Karen Roberts for more recess time! They used emotive language, supported by evidence to convince her and she agreed for an extension on the past day of term!
The students across the school were elated to learn that their efforts had a positive outcome! Yay 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

How did our Year 3/4 students wonder and inquire into yesterday at the Melbourne Zoo?

What an amazing day yesterday to finish off year 3/4 inquiry into Sharing the Planet: All Living Things Must Coexist. After all of their exciting research into different ecosystems, they got to see those ecosystems in working order as they wandered through temperate rainforest like enclosures, tall bamboo forests and even under water ecosystems! The keeper talk matched their inquiry perfectly, with the keepers encouraging us to help raise awareness of keeping our environment as healthy as possible. It was an amazing day at the Melbourne Zoo!

How do we develop and use conceptual understanding?

NSS
National Simultaneous Storytime... from space!

Yesterday KHPS students joined NASA astronaut Dr Shannon Walker as she read Philip Bunting’s “Give me some Space!” live from the International Soace Station.
Students were amazed as they witnessed weightlessness as the book floated around and Dr Walker zoomed off when the story ended.
After the story students spent time learning about life on the Space Station and how the astronauts carry out tasks such as brushing their teeth and going to bed.
