During STEM in Year 5/6, we have been learning about some important scientific concepts about light. There are natural and artificial light sources all around us and light rays always travel in a straight line. We found that some materials are opaque and do not let light through at all, others are translucent (let some light through) and some are transparent like glass. We used this information to learn about light and to have fun creating shadow puppets and shapes.

๐ต Exciting News! ๐ต
We are thrilled to announce that our school has successfully secured an SRL Grant to create a new musical and sensory space outside our Foundation classrooms.
Construction will begin during the school holidays, and we can't wait to provide our youngest learners with an engaging outdoor environment that supports creativity, wellbeing, exploration, and play.
Stay tuned for project updates and photos as the space comes to life!

Our library is so much more than a room full of books โ it's a place where imagination grows, curiosity is encouraged, and a lifelong love of reading begins.
Students at Kingston Heath Primary School enjoy exploring new stories, discovering fascinating facts, developing research skills, and finding the perfect book to spark their interests. Whether they're diving into a favourite series or uncovering something completely new, our library provides a welcoming space for every learner. ๐๐โค๏ธ

On Tuesday, 19th May, KHPS hosted the annual Biggest Morning Tea to raise money for the Cancer Council. Our Year 6 students hosted a cookie sale at lunchtime for a gold coin donation with all funds going towards the Cancer Council.
Our fundraising goal was $500 โ and thanks to the incredible generosity of our school community, we raised an amazing $744! ๐
Thank you to everyone who donated, purchased cookies, bought raffle tickets and supported this important cause. An even bigger thank you to Mrs Jenkin, one of our wonderful Education Support Staff for coordinating this event.

Last week we celebrated our incredible Education Support (ES) team and recognised their essential contributions to our school. Whether it be in-classroom student support, the library, first aid, running the office and business side of the school, being a first point of contact for many that enter our school, keeping our school grounds and buildings maintained, and much more, our school could not be as wonderful as it is without our ES team. So much of the work done by ES personnel goes on โbehind the scenesโ but that does not mean it goes unnoticed! Thankyou on behalf of the KHPS community ๐
