Dreki Megin - High Quality LARP(Live Action Role Play) Weapons! 15/06/2024

Hello Swordcrafters!

This is a double post,

First off a new brand of wacky bats has hit our games!
https://www.dreki.com
They have been seen and tested, and are fine for use at our games.
So far none are safe for thrusting however, as the tips bend too much, but for hitting and slashing they are very nice for.
But like all new gear, bring it your local EQ to get checked as we get more familiar with this brand.

Second,
The updated rules on the Swordcraft Website!
We know that lots of questions will be asked as always, so please ask on the main Swordcraft page so that the correct answers can be seen to a larger audience.
Remember EQ is here to look after you through your gear, and we shall continue to do so.
We are not the rules team, so those are best asked directly to Swordcraft itself.

Thanks all!

Dreki Megin - High Quality LARP(Live Action Role Play) Weapons! High Quality Foam gear for LARP (Live Action Role Play) and martial arts. Large selection of LARP gear like foam sword, throwing knife, dagger, sabre, shield, costume, armor and accessories.

Hello swordcrafters!

We would like to thank everyone who came to the Melbourne game to get their gear checked for its mass EQ Blitz, as we know a number of other chapters memebers came along.

Now with this post, we would like an suggestions or critics about the how the Blitz was performed.
We aim to make a blitz as easy as possible for everyone involved, and your input is greatly appreciated!

Hello swordcrafters!

We hope everyone has had a good holiday season and has enjoyed the new year beginning.

We want to announce that on the 15th of March, Melbourne chapter is going to be holding another Mass EQ blitz.
We hope it becomes a yearly thing to keep on top of safety.

We wanted to give everyone enough warning that this is happening, and also in hopes other chapters are willing to do the same.

So keep in mind that it will be going ahead, if anything changes, we will be sure to update here.

Hello swordcrafters!

With this coming week being the week before Xmas, a lot of chapters are having their Xmas themed games.
So this coming Friday the Melbourne chapter will be doing so, and just like our Halloween game, it’s a theme night game.

So if anyone has any funky gear they have and want to use it for the night, come bring it to EQ and get it checked off for an extra bonus for the night!
Remember the bigger and more fancy the costume for the night the more of a bonus you could get.

26/10/2023

Hello Swordcrafters!

So now we have our spooky Halloween night rules out with the Well of Souls, we want to add to it from EQ.

If you want to use some kind of extra halloween themed armour for the Well of Souls game, (only for this game) we will allow extra and different types of armour to be used that isn’t normal, under our “Imitation” rules.

So if it looks good and you want to do something special for Well of Souls, come show EQ your gear and we will help you with what Wound Points your Costume will provide.

Get creative and make your gear extra spooky for Well of Souls!

Each chapter does their Halloween game differently, so ask your chapter what they are doing and see what you can do to be in theme!

Hello swordcrafters!

We have a big announcement! And it’s a good one for people looking to buy new gear.

After many discussions and testing of gear, it has been determined that Fake Steel Armoury weapons are good and safe weapons to use on our fields!
Please keep in mind that all new gear should always be brought to EQ on game nights to be sure they are safe.

We know many people have been watching and hesitant on spending money on this brand for fear of weapons being bounced.
If there is an option for “soft foam” that is what you should buy and choose when getting gear from Fake Steel Armoury.
The hard foam / non soft foam gear is still a big NO from EQ as it’s akin to solid rubber.

Now the big part about these weapons, in particular the spears.
We have approved the 2 spear styled heads (included in photos of which ones) as 2 handed spears, within our rules.
This means that they will not be 2 handed weapons dealing 2 WP, and be STAB only within our spear rules.

Keep in mind the full normal rules for attaching and safety padding, capped ends and 50CM hand mark will still need to be done.

So do not worry about these weapons and go and enjoy them!

Hello Swordcrafters!

We hope everyone has recovered well from the big Melbourne event Blood and Gold!
It was indeed a fantastic time and anyone who missed it, don’t miss the next event.

But we want to remind everyone that this weekend, if you haven’t already, check on all your gear from the event if you went.
Air out your tents, give them a clean, and double check them.
Check up on all your gear, make sure you haven’t just left heavy stuff on your foam equipment.
Coat your weapons in silicone spray, or get some and do so, to prolong your gears life.
Haven’t left moisture on your armour and begun surface rust.

Always a good time for maintenance, and prevent the sad finding out gear is no good the neglected way.

Remember if ever in doubt, go double check with your local EQ people before a game or message the page for questions!

See you all back on the field!

Hello swordcrafters!

So with quest a week away, we want to inform you all that there will be EQ at quest.
We will have 2 volunteers on for the whole week.

Joel tosh and Nathan Reid will be our EQ people to come see at quest for any questions.
They will primarily be hanging around the town area.
Ask around and we are sure there will be enough people to point either of our vollies out with ease.

See you all at Quest!

Hello swordcrafters!

Big announcement to help casters.

1 week grace periods now in effect!

So after the random blitz last week performed at our Melbourne game, we have been in discussions with officials and some community members.
As there were complaints and mis-communication between all.

We do agree and will now allow kits that don’t meet costume requirements to play that night checked, but will have till the next game to fix and have those missing pieces.
This is providing players have the correct focus and stones, and at least some effort put into their kit.
If you want to play for example a blue wind mage, but have no blue on your kit, we won’t allow that.
But If you have blue long sleeve shirt but no symbol, you will be allowed, but will required robes and symbol next game.

Any kit that is deemed unsafe will still not be allowed on field, that does not change.

With this announcement, comes a large amount of faith put into the community to do the right thing, which we know is rightly placed.
So if this grace period is abused, it will be lost.

Please refer to the recently updated Magic Handbook in the rules section of our website, for all required information.

https://www.swordcraft.com.au/rules

But like always if unsure message us here or come ask questions at your local chapter.

Thanks all!

Hello swordcrafters!

We have been hearing a lot about Fake Steel Armoury weapons, and we want to address it, as they are newer weapon brand.

Their weapons are allowed to be used at our games, most we have seen come through are fine, if they are the soft foam option. If not the soft foam they feel like solid rubber pieces which we don’t allow.
So if you decide to purchase any from them, be sure to choose the soft foam option.

We do still ask that they are brought though your local EQ, just like everything brought onto the field for the first time, as they are still new to our games and community, so getting the feel of the weapons and familiarity with them does take time. And with any weapons, sometimes they can be harder when unused, which just takes some wearing in.

So be sure that we do allow them, just get them checked, and do enjoy them!
