Garbage Guts Education

Last week, I arranged for .aus to come out and run a workshop at my school. I knew it would be great, but I didn’t know HOW great!

I have never seen our young people so engaged as Clancy shared his passion for our native pollinators and got everyone up building a heap of beautiful bee hotels.

After telling my own kids all about it, they couldn’t wait to make one at home over the weekend!

While our web designer is giving the website a much needed overhaul, he decided to play around with his new 3D printer and made this awesome little Bebo model for his kids. His daughter even suggested making the head as a lid so it could even be used as a bin. Kids just have the best ideas!

Let others see you picking up litter and maybe we can normalise not walking past it. I found all this along 100m of the lake foreshore.

I’ve been following the work of Precious Plastic Melbourne for years now, and I finally had the chance to take my senior Product Design class in to check out their new education hub, Space of Waste.

So great to meet Piers and Bill, and give our students some hands on experience creating items from recycled plastic, learning to view plastic as a resource.

I threw the kids in the car early this morning and drove through Melbourne to , just out of Torquay. I wanted to take a look at the worm farms to see how suitable they would be for a school environment.

By the looks of things, I think they’d work really well, but I might just have to buy one and test it out to be sure! 😉

I gave the ol’ heat press a bit of a workout these past few weeks and made up some awesome looking tees.

I had a fantastic time speaking with some really passionate educators about how to tackle waste challenges in their schools. I loved sharing a space with so many wonderful exhibitors who are all working together to provide the best learning opportunities for our kids.

Super proud to be standing in front of the beautiful painting by a group of my Year 6 students, who spent a few lunchtimes working on this masterpiece. Absolute legends!
