Bron's Family Day Care

The theme today has been 'Frozen' celebrating a child turning 4 years. Girls painted and decorated their butterfly Frozen masks. When finished one said 'we can be butterfly girls, lets flutter wings'.

Our cardboard cylinder robots - One child said 'mine is a red hulk goodie robot', another child's robot was' goodie blue hulk robot' yet another's was 'a boy green hulk robot'.

Our 'bark tent' started with a child holding a long piece of bent bark on the ground saying 'how do I make something'. We added more pieces of bent bark to make a tent. All children joined in and soon added 'a campfire'.

I just love the colour of Autumn leaves in the hills. Here children extend lines of their handprints to make trees. They then stick on colourful Autumn leaves. 'Lots are falling down' says one child as he sticks and when quizzed, he says, it is Autumn'.

Boys add eyes to their bush night life craft. One says 'make two big scary eyes'.

Children spot a tiny snail and decide to feed it with leaves. At times, the snail is lost under the leaves and then rediscovered. 'Such a cutie guy' says a child holding a leaf with the snail attached.

Boys add 'spikes for protection' to their pastings of magpies. One says 'mine is a blueberry magpie', another says his is 'a purpleberry magpie' and yet another says his is 'a redberry magpie'.

Early maths skills - boys fill muffin holes in trays with water. On one occasion, they fill 'fifteen' holes and when asked, they count the correct number they have filled. I ask how may haven't you filled and they count 'nine'. II suggest that fifteen plus nine equals twenty four. Boys then count all the muffin holes and come up with 'twenty four' as well.

The boys on Monday aren't always keen on craft. Today they saw me cutting a T-Rex card dinosaur with one boy saying 'I am ready to make my dinosaur'. This prompted me to get organised.

One child places sports cones side by side saying 'not going through'. This prompts another child to draw with chalk making crosses on all the garden paths saying 'no one is allowed any where'. Two boys then yell into large funnels saying 'there is no where to go in the city'.

Children help carry small logs to the side of the wood yard. On the way they stop to 'build a wood castle'. Soon one boy says 'let's wreck our building'. Once at the side of the wood yard a another child passes logs to me saying 'I ate up all my dinner last night to get strong'.

This morning boys were excited to make their paper and cotton wool Father Christmas. One child said upon finishing his craft 'he is almost delivering presents to my house'.
