**Squat time** building that b***y back is a work in progress post birth.


For me it was like, one second I'm this finely tuned and toned athlete, to 9 months of pregnancy having me looking sideways only to wonder what having a b***y felt like.


Well let me tell you, it takes a good block of training to get that b***y back, but it's definitely not gone forever and SQUATS are one of the key compound exercises to put you back on the b***y build project.
β€’ Start with body weight squats if you're just starting back
β€’ Progress to squats with dumbbells
β€’ Then squats under the bar with no weights
β€’ Then start adding a little bit of weight.


For muscle growth, we want high reps in the 12-15 range, 3 sets of those reps, with ONLY 30 seconds rest between each of the 3 sets. Short recovery + high reps = muscle growth. Bring the peaches back mamas πŸ‘

Huge shoutout to Victoria who has broken Jessica's record for the challenge, taking the 10kg in 12 weeks to 11kg in 12 weeks!

Victoria was seriously determined not to let any ni**le or illness or husbands work trips get in the way of her goal. Her communication through all of these life impacts plus next level customisation with diet to manage her Diabetes was a winning team up to work well together.

She is mentally a completely different person from when I met her in week 1. (Where I'm sure she was cursing me and this program out for a good couple of weeks thinking it wouldn't work for her). But she stuck to it and the seeds she sowed have reaped rewards!

Congrats lady, I'm super proud of your efforts and feel lucky to have been your trainer throughout this journey.

Today I completed a 12w diet and exercise program by Linda Leverton (Lose the Last 5 Challenge). In my case it was lose the first 11!

3.5 years of no excercise (excluding pushing a pram and lifting small children) saw me hit an all time heaviest weight, including when I was pregnant. Something had to be done. I was looking for someone who understood type 1 Diabetes and someone to hold my hand as I switched my life to low carb, knowing it’s proving to be the best way to manage blood sugar levels in people with and without diabetes. Step in Linda, whose husband has type 1, a mum of twins, working crazy hours and athlete. She had just the right pedigree for me to know she got it.

What I’ve achieved
- halved my total daily insulin dose
- blood sugar mostly in target range
- cholesterol, vit d and iron all great
- 11 kg lighter (otherwise known as an β€œAlice”)
- 48 cm total loss (incl 8 cm chest, 14cm waist and 10 cm hips)
- clothes fit again
- I am satisfied with a salad (tho still really miss carbs)
- a new perspective on my body. I’m not at my skinniest, but compared to where I’ve been, I feel like I am.
- an appreciation for exercise before breakfast

Come on mummy, lift me too!! Meet this amazing mama of 3 boys who shows up EVERY session with 3 boys, 2 boys or 1 boy :) I'm so inspired by Clare and how amazing she is for always doing her sessions. Her boys know that exercise is a big part of mummies life and being healthy is a priority! Total inspo!

Week 4 of BuggyFit classes and it's Strength week πŸ’ͺ

Post Natal Fitness shouldn't be entirely focussed around weight loss. I'm a big believer on the benefits of strength training especially post birth. The BuggyFit classes are a perfect size to teach proper technique and get your core, back, upper body and lower body stronger and more toned πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ
