Our Year 4 students are off to a fantastic start at Camp Rumbug! The students have enthusiastically embraced every activity, including Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Canoeing, Mud Run, Raft Building, Team Challenge, Aero Ball and Archery.

So many students have already taken the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones and have been enthusiastic cheerleaders for their group members through every activity rotation.

We are looking forward to another 2 days of fun, adventure and friendship!

What an incredible time our Year 3 students had at Gundiwindi Lodge! 🌿🏕️ Students embraced every challenge and adventure, taking part in the ropes course, flying fox, hut building, archery, damper making and roasting marshmallows around the campfire!

It was wonderful to see students stepping outside their comfort zones, encouraging one another and making memories with friends. A fantastic few days filled with fun, teamwork, friendship and adventure!

Another big thank you to our parent helpers who attended the camp!

Our Year 3 campers have arrived at Gundiwindi Lodge and are already making the most of their adventure! After settling into their accommodation, students jumped straight into their first rotations of activities, embracing new challenges, building confidence and creating lasting memories with their classmates. Camp provides a valuable opportunity for students to develop independence, resilience and teamwork skills in a new environment. It has been a fantastic start to camp, and there is plenty more excitement ahead.

Our Year 3 & 4 students made delicious Veggie-Filled Sausage Rolls in their cooking rotation of our Kitchen Garden program! They practised important food preparation techniques, including grating and dicing vegetables, and harvested fresh silverbeet from our school garden to add to their recipe. Students also learnt how to brush the pastry with milk to create a beautiful golden finish while baking. It was wonderful to see everyone working safely, cooperatively and confidently in the kitchen and the finished sausage rolls were a big hit!

Throughout Science Week, our students embraced their curiosity as they explored a range of exciting science investigations and STEM challenges. A highlight of the week has been our whole-school Egg Drop Challenge, where every class designed and built a protective container to keep an egg safe from a 2-metre drop. It has been wonderful to see students collaborating, thinking creatively and applying their problem-solving skills. We love seeing our students asking questions, making discoveries and developing a lifelong love of science!

It’s Science Week at OOPS! Students had a blast at our Mad Science Show, exploring the amazing world of air, electricity and fire. From giant smoke rings and levitating balls to flying toilet paper and hair-raising static electricity, there were plenty of laughs, surprises and “wow” moments! Thanks to our guest scientist for inspiring curiosity and showing that science is all around us.

Today was our 100 Days of Prep Celebration! 🌟😎

Our Preps brightened the school in their colourful outfits as we celebrated our 100 Days Brighter theme. The students proudly ticked off the final day in our 100-day countdown and enjoyed a range of fun activities to mark this special milestone.

Throughout the day, they decorated their own sunglasses, created a picture using the number 100, designed a crown, shared delicious 100s & 1000s fairy bread, teamed up with their buddies for a special 100 themed activity and finished off the day with a disco 🪩

What a fantastic way to celebrate 100 days of learning, growing, and shining bright in Prep! We are so proud of all our Preps and everything they have achieved in their first 100 days of school. 💛✨💯

Our Year 5 students had a fantastic time today participating in Peace Kitchen’s Building Belonging Across Cultures workshop. Through games, storytelling, and discussion, they explored culture, identity, and belonging while learning the importance of empathy, curiosity, and celebrating our differences.

Some of their reflections said it best:
“It’s okay to be different. It makes you special.”
“Don’t assume things about other people.”
“Everyone is unique.”
