🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week 🙌

Our communities at Goodstart Melbourne have been engaging in meaningful experiences that help build understanding, respect, and connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Through our Mandarin language program, children participated in an Acknowledgement of Country in both Mandarin and English, celebrating the importance of recognising the Traditional Custodians of the land.

Our communities also explored sensory play using natural resources, created rivers and boats from playdough, and we also threaded colourful beads onto pipe cleaners to make Rainbow Serpents.

These hands-on experiences encourage curiosity, learning, and respect as we reflect on the National Reconciliation Week theme “All In”

Together, we can make reconciliation meaningful through small actions that build understanding, respect, and stronger connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. 🙌

Day 1 of National Reconciliation Week 🖤💛❤️

Today, our community at Goodstart Melbourne came together to support reconciliation through meaningful conversations and learning experiences.

We reflected on our Acknowledgement of Country and our ongoing commitment to learning about and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories.

Families and children added their fingerprints to a collaborative display, while children explored the colours and meaning of the Aboriginal flag.

Together, we embraced this year’s theme, “All In,” showing our shared commitment to reconciliation and respect for Australia’s First Nations peoples.

🙌 We had a fun and busy morning in our family grouping space. Children explored creative mark-making using paint, pine cones, and brushes, building fine motor skills while experimenting with colour and texture. 🎨

💭 We also made fresh coloured playdough together, enjoying every step of the process. The kinder children extended their learning by creating sea animals for our focus of the month: octopuses, sea monsters, and sea snakes, adding details like scales and shells. 🐙🌊

A morning full of creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning ~ ✨😉

⚽️🥅 Started our week with an energetic sports session ✨😁
It’s always one of most exciting activities that we look forward to at the centre !

😉👌 The children had a wonderful time and listened intently to our sports teacher’s instructions.

🥳🙌 They enjoyed a variety of fun activities, including stretching, an obstacle course combined with footy, jumping and playing with hula hoops, balancing on stepping tools, and so much more!

As the weather is getting colder, this is the perfect time for sports to warm up our bodies and surely we all had so much fun ! 🥳⛳️
