Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day!

Today we celebrate the incredible people who make our centre what it is, our educators, our team, and the hearts behind everything we do.

Being an early childhood educator is so much more than a job. It’s the little moments that happen every single day.

It’s the hand held when someone needs reassurance, the cuddle that makes everything feel okay, the story read for the hundredth time, the encouragement to try again, the laughter shared, the milestones celebrated and, most importantly, the safe and nurturing relationships built along the way.

To our amazing team, thank you.

Thank you for the love, patience, creativity, commitment and care you bring to our children and families every day. The work you do matters, and the difference you make reaches far beyond the walls of our centre.

To our wonderful families, we invite you to join us in celebrating our educators today. Leave a message below for an educator or for our whole team and let them know how they have made a difference to your child and family.

Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day to our incredible Shaftsbury team.

Little moments. Big impact. A lifetime of difference.

Every day, we thoughtfully prepare our Nursery outdoor environment to feel calm, welcoming and full of possibility.

It’s more than setting out books, baskets, music and sensory experiences. It’s about creating a space where our youngest children feel safe to explore, curious enough to discover, and confident to engage at their own pace.

Every cushion placed, every book chosen and every experience prepared has a purpose.

Just received the most adorable gift! 🥹💛

Thank you, Goodstart. Being a Child Protection Advocate is such an honour and something I am incredibly proud to be part of.

Advocating for children, ensuring their voices are heard, and helping create environments where every child feels safe, respected and protected is such an important responsibility.

Feeling very grateful to be part of something that puts the safety and wellbeing of children at the heart of everything we do. 💛

What an incredible Book Week we have had!

Our centre was filled with colour, imagination, laughter and so much excitement as our children and educators stepped into the wonderful world of books.

Throughout the week, the children arrived dressed as some of their favourite book characters, proudly sharing their costumes, stories and ideas with their friends. From superheroes and storybook classics to cowboys, astronauts, magical characters and Where’s Wally, every day brought something new to celebrate.

Book Week gave us a wonderful opportunity to bring literacy to life. The children explored stories through reading, dramatic play, music and movement, creative experiences and conversations with their educators and peers. Most importantly, we saw children excited to talk about books, recognise familiar characters and share the stories that are meaningful to them.

A huge thank you to our families for the incredible effort that went into costumes and for helping us make the week so special. We also want to recognise our amazing educators who embraced the celebrations and helped create such a fun and engaging week for the children.

It has been a week full of creativity, connection and plenty of magical memories.

That’s a wrap on Book Week 2026! What an amazing week it has been!

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

July Sustainability Project – Nursery Car Wash! ♻️

Who knew a cardboard box could become so much fun?

Our Nursery children loved exploring our handmade Car Wash, created using recycled cardboard, ribbons, and repurposed materials. This engaging sustainability project encouraged children to use their imagination as they drove their cars through the wash, developing language, problem-solving, and fine motor skills along the way.

By transforming everyday recycled items into a meaningful play experience, we’re helping children understand that materials can be reused in creative ways instead of being thrown away. Sustainability starts with small ideas that inspire big learning!

We are so proud of this beautiful project and the joy it brought to our little learners. 🌱💙

♻️ Reuse. Recycle. Reimagine. Learn through play.

🍦 Introducing Shaftsbury Scoops! 🍦

Welcome to Shaftsbury Scoops, where imagination is on the menu and learning is served with every scoop!

Our newest dramatic play space invites children to become ice cream shop owners, customers, cashiers and chefs as they create delicious ice cream combinations while building important lifelong skills through play.

As children scoop, count, serve and create, they are developing:
🍨 Early mathematics skills through counting, matching and recognising numbers
🎨 Colour recognition and sorting
🖐️ Fine motor strength and hand-eye coordination while using scoops, tongs and loose parts
💬 Language and communication through conversations, taking orders and storytelling
🤝 Social skills as they work together, share resources and take turns
💰 Early financial literacy as they explore menus, pretend money and customer service
✨ Creativity and imagination by designing their own unique ice cream creations

At Goodstart Point Cook – Shaftsbury Boulevard, we believe the best learning happens when children are engaged, having fun and following their interests. Dramatic play provides endless opportunities for children to build confidence, problem-solving skills and friendships in a meaningful and exciting way.
