TODAY IS THE DAY!!
Today, students from Woodlands PS, Langwarrin PS, Lang Park PS and EMC will walk 25-50km to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The 50km walk will start from St Kilda, while the 25km walk will start at Mordialloc and all walkers will finish at Frankston Pier to celebrate their astonishing achievements.
Collectively, the Thrive network has raised over $180,000 and counting. Local lad Oscar Taylor has taken to the streets to get back to good old fashion community door knocking, raising over $2600.
Proud Mum, Sammy has been so impressed with his efforts. “Oscar is a real people person, but I still can’t believe how much door knocking has boosted his confidence, respect, empathy and public speaking skills. So much so, that his little sisters and brothers have even joined in. He was pretty nervous to begin with, so he made a video to post on the local community page announcing his intention to door knock and asking the recipients to be kind as it was his first time. It was met with such an amazing response, that he was pumped to get started and met everyone. Of course he was supervised the whole time, but it’s something that kids really need to get back in to and benefit from. A bit of hard pavement work is good for the soul.”
Help boost the kids on their walk today and donate to a very worthy cause. Donations are open until Good Friday, but the kids will be celebrating today as they make their trek. If you see them, give them a wave.
Thank you all for your kind and generous donations.
REMEMBER DONATIONS COME WITH A RECEIPT AND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE, SO IF YOU HAVE OR KNOW A BUSINESS, LET’S GET ON BOARD!!
