A little breezed n cheesed this morning🌅early up easing off later morning into afternoon🌥️🌤️
🎣🦈shark action was hot🔥💯with both gummy & 🎓🦈school shark captures.

Some great 🦑egi & cuttlefish were welcome additions & were quickly added to the chill❄️bag.

We also spotted a juvenile Wandering 🦅🌏Albatross-its white feather hadn’t come through as yet-was very dark like a mutton bird with a large pink hued beak.
Cool to see😀💯
Did you know they’re capable of navigating at night while asleep ?
Pretty unique set of skills.
They’re able to circumnavigate the 🌏globe in around 6 weeks too😀☄️

After 2 rescheduled charters due to inclement weather☁️🌧️💨🌬️-today we finally got a break🌥️🍃with stable weather for Renee & Matt.
Sure was worth the wait as they both experienced some pretty 🎣🔥🦈good action on both gummy & school shark.
Great range of weights from 8kg through to 16kg or so.
End result was enough fresh 🤤🦈flake to feed their fam & friends quite a few times🍽️😀💯💯

🛟⚓️Recently as part of the annual servicing requirements for Life-Jackets & Fire🔥🚒extinguisher aboard the charter boat, I had a glance over a form all charter operatives have or should have aboard their vessels💯

🛟It’s known as a 🚨Critical Dates🚨form, with a list of common areas that have expiry or renewal dates etc.

🛟I got 🧠thinking about this form & have sorted one that’ll cover Rec boaters for most areas of safety items & other important things such as trailer & 🚤⛵️🛶🛥️boat registration renewals or fishing🎣licence replacements.

🛟Happy to 📭📬email anyone a form if they are interested.

Long before 🐚🐚pippi were a popular bait choice around these areas,
Aust blue mussels were the bait of choice for experienced whiting extractors…
Particularly during the 60’s-70’s & early 80’s.
Today I made a visit to the hardworking friendly staff this afternoon to grab some of the best 🎣🦴🦴bone baits you can use.

Blue Mussels-are bivalve molluscs- locally farmed in lower southern Port Phillip Bay & around the flinders region on Westernport on privately owned leases.
They’re grown first in stocking style ropes until larger n then attached onto heavier🪢ropes attached to a series of 📍📍buoys on each plot-area.
Takes around 8-9 months to achieve marketable size on average.
You’ll see these farms often with a large alloy barge working around the back end of Mud Island & out from Martha Cove amongst the mussel leases.

This time of year the mussel is at its prime both for eating & bait.
Plump full bodied, they make a terrific bait.

Cut in half-presented on a fine wire- #6 hook of choice -they’ll be slurped up when the bone are about no question.
The empty shell🐚🐚make a superb addition to drop in while fishing as they’re a great attractant.
