🌿 Connecting wellbeing, Country, culture and community
Our IHNA Lonsdale Campus recently welcomed Prof Maria Mackay for an engaging face-to-face introduction to Wayapa Wuurrk — an Aboriginal wellness practice that recognises the deep connection between personal wellbeing, Country, culture and community.
Through storytelling, Earth mindfulness, breath, and gentle movement, students and staff had the opportunity to experience a different way of thinking about holistic health and to reflect on the relationship between Mind, Body, Spirit, and the Earth.
The session also introduced participants to the 14 Wayapa elements and encouraged thoughtful conversations about wellbeing, cultural responsiveness, and how these perspectives can inform future healthcare practice.
A meaningful morning of learning, reflection and connection — and a valuable reminder that wellbeing extends beyond the individual to the communities, cultures and environments we are part of. 🌏💚
A big thank you to Prof Maria Mackay for sharing her knowledge and guiding our Lonsdale community through this special experience.
📸 Here are a few moments from the session.

Care that is remembered. 💙
IHNA Brisbane recently received a heartfelt letter from a member of the local community recognising the kindness, compassion, knowledge, and professionalism shown by our students during their placements.
One line especially stayed with us:
“They treated me with respect and never compromised my dignity.”
“They treated me with respect and never compromised my dignity.”
The writer shared how our students brought comfort, laughter and genuine care during a challenging time—a beautiful reminder that healthcare is not only about what we know, but also about how we make people feel.
To our Brisbane students: thank you for representing IHNA with such compassion and professionalism.
Your care was felt. And it was remembered.
We will be sharing the full story on our blog soon—stay tuned.

We are sharing this heartfelt message with gratitude while keeping the writer's identity private out of respect for their privacy.
