A very special post for Olivia, who was a nominee for the Geraldine O’Shea-Ryan Memorial Trophy at this year’s Victorian State Championships 🤍💙
It is who Olivia is away from the stage that makes her such a worthy nominee.
Olivia’s Irish dance journey began when she attended a “bring a friend” class with a primary school friend. From that very first lesson, she discovered a genuine love for Irish dance and has continued to embrace the challenges, friendships and opportunities it has brought.
Olivia approaches every aspect of her dancing with dedication, patience and perseverance. She sets goals, works consistently towards them and has developed into a dancer who is not only committed to her own growth, but invested in the growth of those around her.
As she has matured within our school, Olivia has become a respected leader and a wonderful role model for younger dancers. Wise beyond her years, she helps foster a positive class culture built on encouragement, confidence and a strong work ethic. She generously gives her time to assist with beginner and team classes, patiently supporting younger dancers and sharing her passion for Irish dance and culture.
Balancing competitive Irish dancing with her school studies and part-time work, Olivia demonstrates maturity, responsibility and commitment in all that she does. She leads through her actions and is someone her peers and younger dancers naturally look to for guidance and inspiration.
The qualities recognised by the Geraldine O’Sullivan Memorial Award are evident in Olivia every day. Her dedication, persistence, patience, perseverance and genuine love for Irish dance extend far beyond her own achievements. It is the positive influence she has on those around her and the example she sets within our school community that truly make her a deserving nominee.
