When students leave school, they become an ongoing part of our community through the Old Wesley Collegians Association (OWCA). The OWCA hosts regular functions and many alumni keep in close contact with their friends from school – even 60 and 70 years later. Wesley 160 • London Event

Last Thursday, on an unseasonably warm London evening, our UK and European Wesley community gathered to celebrate an incredible milestone - 160 Years of Wesley College.

The room was filled with OWs spanning five decades, former staff, future parents and grandparents, and friends of the College. Hosted by Principal Nick Evans (OW1985) and the OWCA, the night was a powerful reminder of how deeply our Wesley connections run.

One future parent shared that the kindness and generosity she experienced throughout the evening confirmed her decision that Wesley was the right place for her child - a beautiful example of why these moments matter.

Old friendships were rekindled, new ones sparked, and conversations flowed against the backdrop of Green Park. The night highlighted the global mindset our school continues to foster - a community that stretches far beyond our campuses.

Following a terrific event in Midtown New York, our team was treated to dinner at Old Mates NYC - co‑founded, with friends, by two Old Collegians, Nick Stone (OW1999) and Andrew Stone (OW2002). Our global Wesley community is alive, connected and thriving - you never know where you’ll find an Old Mate.

Last Thursday in midtown New York, members of our North American community came together for a special celebration of 160 Years of Wesley College.

Hosted by Principal Nick Evans (OW1985) and the OWCA, and with OWs spanning 60 years it was a true reflection of how our school ties continue to unite us. One guest recalled that he first met fellow guest and now longtime friend and business colleague, at the last US event over 10 years ago – a testament to why these moments of connection matter.

Contact details were shared, advice given to new residents of New York and happy chatter filled the room. With a backdrop of the Empire State Building, the night was a celebration of the global citizens our school helps shape - we are all part of something very special that is bigger than the boundaries defined by our school gates.

Congratulations Xavier Bamert (OW2024) on being selected by Port Adelaide with their first pick in Telstra’s AFL mid-season Rookie Draft last night.

A tough and talented midfielder with great leadership and work-rate, Xavier captained the Sandringham Dragons to a grand final appearance and represented Victoria Metro at the Under 18 National Championships before making his debut with North Melbourne in the VFL earlier this year.

We’re excited to see him take this next step and look forward to following his journey at Port Adelaide. Well done, Xavier!
