A WIN FOR EQUAL LOVE IN ASIA 🇹🇭🏳️‍🌈❤️

In a landmark move this afternoon, 18 June 2024, Thailand’s Senate has passed the final reading of a marriage equality law, setting the stage for the country to become the third in Asia to recognize same-sex marriages after Nepal and Taiwan.

Supported by nearly all upper house lawmakers, the law will soon be sent to the palace for royal approval and will come into effect 120 days after its publication in the royal gazette. This historic move is hailed by LGBTIQ advocates as a significant step forward, marking Thailand as the first country in Southeast Asia to enact such legislation. 🏳️‍🌈
