Heathmont Kindergarten continues to be committed to providing families a funded three and four year old kindergarten program. From 2023, we will offer an integrated, Montessori long day kindergarten program. Our Montessori long day Kindergarten program will be government-subsidised and delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. While we will no longer offer a sessional kindergarten program

in 2023, we encourage families to find out more about our Montessori long day Program and contact us to learn more about enrolling into this program, the fee structure and vacancies

Kindergarten is the gentle beginning of your child’s life outside the family and the beginning of your child’s formal education.At Heathmont Kindergarten we provide a safe and caring environment, which encourages the development of individual children socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Our program is designed for the children to participate in all sorts of new learning experiences. Why is there only one of each Montessori material? 🤍

One of the most common questions families ask when they visit a Montessori classroom.

Having only one of each material is intentional.

It gently encourages children to make choices, respect another child‘s work, and develop patience as they wait for the right moment. Sometimes they observe. Sometimes they choose another activity. And when the material becomes available, they return when they’re ready.

These everyday moments help children develop independence, self-regulation, and respect for others—through experiences that happen naturally within the prepared environment.

Ever wonder why mornings matter so much? 🤍

The way a child begins their morning can often shape the rest of their day.

When children have the opportunity to settle into the morning with calm and intention, they’re often more ready to:
🌿 Explore new work with confidence
🌿 Concentrate for longer periods
🌿 Transition smoothly between activities
🌿 Build positive relationships with peers
🌿 Embrace new experiences throughout the day

Some mornings, however, children may need a little more time to settle. They might still be adjusting from home, carrying big emotions, or simply arriving with lots of energy.

Gentle yoga and mindful movement offer children an opportunity to slow down, stretch, breathe, and reconnect with their bodies before beginning their day. These moments can support a smoother transition into the classroom and help children feel calm, connected, and ready for the learning experiences ahead.

At BMEL, we believe learning doesn‘t begin with the first Montessori lesson.
