If IELTS or PTE isn’t your thing, there are now more options to choose from 👀

For tests taken from 7 August 2025, Home Affairs now also accepts:

🆕 CELPIP General
🆕 LANGUAGECERT Academic
🆕 Michigan English Test (MET)

Along with IELTS, PTE, OET, TOEFL iBT and Cambridge C1 Advanced.

One important thing — the test still needs to meet the requirements for your specific visa, so don’t book an English test just because it’s on the list 😅

🚨 Planning to study a Graduate Diploma of Teaching in WA? Read this before you enrol!

There’s an important date to keep in mind: 30 June 2027.

Under current TRBWA arrangements, certain Graduate Diploma of Teaching programs are recognised for Provisional Registration in Western Australia until 30 June 2027.

For example, Southern Cross University has advised that students who enrol in its Graduate Diploma of Teaching by 30 June 2027 will remain recognised for Provisional Registration in WA.

⚠️ Planning to enrol after this date? Your registration pathway may be different.

Also, teacher registration requirements vary between Australian states, so a qualification recognised in WA may not necessarily have the same outcome elsewhere.

Tasmania State Nomination 2026–27 update

Tasmania has received 2,050 nomination places for the new program year:

190 visa: 1,250 places
491 visa: 800 places

That’s an increase from 2025–26, when Tasmania had 1,200 places for 190 and 650 for 491.

The 2026–27 program is not open for new ROIs yet. Migration Tasmania says it will reopen in the coming weeks, with the new program settings and guidelines to be announced.

If Tasmania is part of your migration plan, now is a good time to review your EOI, skills assessment, employment history and which nomination pathway you may fit.

We’ll keep an eye on the new requirements once they’re officially released.

Attention Everyone in Australia! The 2026 Census is happening on August 11 ⚠️

The Census is conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), not the Department of Home Affairs.

Whether you are an Australian citizen, PR, international student, temporary visa holder or visitor, what matters is whether you are physically in Australia on Census Night. Everyone in Australia on 11 August 2026 must generally be included on a Census form.

📌 Check your mailbox
Most households will receive a Census letter containing a unique 16-digit Census number and temporary password. You can complete the Census online or request a paper form.

📌 Living in a share house?
Usually, one person completes the Census form for everyone staying in the household that night. If you would prefer not to share personal information such as your income with housemates, you can request a separate Census form.

📌 Is my information safe?
Your information is protected by law. The ABS does not share information from your Census form that could identify you or anyone in your household with other government departments. Census information is used for statistical purposes and is not used for immigration compliance or enforcement.
Census data helps governments and communities plan services such as healthcare, education, public transport, community infrastructure and government funding.

📌 The Census is compulsory
The ABS will normally contact you and encourage you to complete the Census first. If you continue not to respond, you may receive a formal written direction. Failing to comply with that direction can lead to prosecution and fines of up to $364 for each day of non-compliance.

⚠️ Scam warning
The ABS will never ask you to provide bank details, your tax file number or passwords by text. Do not click suspicious links; verify the message directly with the ABS.
