Justice and Legal Studies at university takes an interdisciplinary approach to analysing the relationship between law and society. Majority of the content learnt at university level draws upon the insights, theories and methods of various disciplines and studies such as criminology, cultural studies, history, politics, philosophy, media studies, gender, sexuality and diversity studies.

We help students to build analytical skills and knowledge required to critique, reform and evaluate the role of law in a range of different contexts and contemporary issues. VCE Legal Studies examines the institutions and principles that are essential to Australia’s legal system. VCE Students develop understandings of rules of law, law-makers, key legal institutions, rights protection in Australia, and the justice system. We help students apply knowledge of legal concepts and principles to a range of actual or hypothetical scenarios and develop their use of legal reasoning, applying it to civil or criminal law matters. We help students consider and evaluate recent and recommended reforms to the criminal and civil justice systems and analyse the effectiveness of our legal institutions, justice system and achievements of the principles of justice.
