Digital Sovereignty - Don't Build Your Castle on Someone Else's Land.

But what does that even mean?

Most of us have built our businesses on platforms we don't own. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok. What happens if they disappeared tomorrow? What happens if you log on to Instagram and everything you've built over the years is just gone?

It's already happened to countless creators around the world - accounts banned, suspended, or just wiped and there was nothing they could do about it. Years of work, audiences they'd spent years building, gone overnight.

The algorithms reward attention, not intention. You end up making content for the platform, not for your audience. And that relationship with your audience isn't really yours - it belongs to Facebook, or Instagram, or whoever you're renting space from.

We'll work through the problem and what to do about it. Bring your questions!

We’re proud to have built the website for 20 Things Men Can Do to Challenge Patriarchal Attitudes and Practices - a resource developed by the Continuing Conversations with Men About Violence Against Women working group.

The project launched in late November as part of the Merri-bek City Council Voices for Change forum, which brought community members together to imagine a future without gendered violence.

We’re grateful to have supported this work, not just technically, but because the message matters.

You can explore the resource at https://20thingsmencando.com.au/

AusMusic T-shirt Day has arrived, and it’s basically our Met Gala at Meeum HQ.

Opening the runway, Elyse is serving an ORIGINAL early-90s “I Love Ratcat ” tee. A true vintage masterpiece that refuses to age and absolutely steals the spotlight.

Following in dramatic fashion, Sam is stepping out in a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds shirt from the 2013 Push the Sky Away tour, giving brooding rock-chic energy and timeless Australian iconography.

Also, turns out taking a selfie that captures both your face, and the full T-shirt is surprisingly difficult, but we persevered for the sake of Australian music.

Happy AusMusic T-shirt Day, friends. Strike a pose, support your favourite artists, and wear your nostalgia with pride.

It’s AusMusic Month, so it’s time to Ausify Your Algorithm 🎧

That means streaming Aussie artists, liking their posts, saving their tracks, and commenting like mad.

💥 Here are some of the standout Australian acts we caught at SXSW Sydney and a few at SXSW Austin too...

Selve (Gold Coast) – yep, bought the tee

Charlie Ivan Band (NT) – Goanna meets something totally its own

Stella Bridie (Melbourne) – saw her in Austin and Sydney, 10/10

Lucy Sugerman (Canberra) – lovely and cool

Lady Lyon – POW!

Swapmeet (Adelaide) – multi-talented and genre-jumping

Letters to Lions (Sydney) – ROCK!

dust (Newcastle) – awesome.

BOCCE – didn’t see live but haven’t stopped streaming

👕 AusMusic T-Shirt Day is 27 November!
Wear your favourite Aussie band tee, festival merch or even your go-to record store shirt. Or do like we’re doing and rock one every day this month.

🧠 Remember: every play, save, follow and comment helps. Let’s train the algorithm to deliver more of what we love!

👇 Tell us who you’re listening to! Emerging, legendary, even New Zealanders (maybe).

G’day creatives, small business owners, and sole traders 👋

Next Wednesday 12 November, we're running a free one-hour workshop at BRUDI in Brunswick all about getting your LinkedIn presence sorted.

This isn’t about becoming a LinkedIn influencer.

It’s about understanding how LinkedIn fits into your digital strategy, especially if you’re in the creative industries or just starting to get your online presence together.

Some of what we’ll cover:
✨ How to set up and optimise your LinkedIn profile
✨ What to actually post (and what not to)
✨ The difference between business and personal profiles
✨ And a bit about digital sovereignty: why everything should connect back to your website

It’s relaxed, practical, and designed for real humans who want to make the most of LinkedIn without having to live on it.

📍 BRUDI (Brunswick Design & Innovation Hub)
