We were honoured to attend the launch of the 2026 TSF Awards for Excellence at Melbourne Town Hall โจ
A sincere thank you to Mr Gary Lee from the City of Melbourne , and for having us at such a special occasion celebrating student leadership, academic achievement, and community contribution ๐
It was great hearing from past award recipients and learning more about the impact this scholarship initiative has made for Victorian students since 2005.
As a team passionate about supporting students in their education journey, weโre always excited to see opportunities like this that recognise and empower future leaders ๐

Is a 485 visa still worth it if it costs nearly AUD 6,000 including everything?
the 485 visa application fee is now AUD 4,600. Back when it was AUD 2,300, many students had the same thinking: just apply for the 485 first, at least it gives me more time to stay in Australia.
But now, once you look at the full picture, it is no longer such a simple decision.
In addition to the visa fee itself, students also need to consider the cost of the English test, OVHC, medical check, and police clearance. When you add everything together, the total can come close to AUD 6,000.
That is why I often tell students that the real question is not simply whether the 485 is expensive. The more important question is whether it will actually be useful for your next step.
For many students, the challenge is not getting the 485.
The challenge is getting it, and then realising they still do not have a clear plan afterwards.
If there is no clear pathway in mind before applying, the 485 can easily become just an expensive way of buying more time.
Before making a decision, I always encourage students to think carefully about a few key questions.
Is your major strong in the current job market?
Are your English, CV, and interview skills ready?
Do you have a realistic chance of gaining valuable local work experience during your 485 period?
A 485 is not the answer on its own.
It simply gives you more time.
Whether that time leads to a better outcome depends on how well you plan ahead.
This is also why I always recommend students seek proper advice early. Questions like: potential visa pathways for those around 35 years of age or who is eligible for a 485 visa extension are not always straightforward, and they are rarely something you should rely on social media alone to understand.
If you are already considering between further study, whether for academic reasons or long-term migration planning or the 485 visa, you need to consider what is the best use of your time and money.
If you would like to explore this in more detail, I warmly invite you to join our Migration Seminar on Friday, 24 April. It will be a great opportunity to ask questions directly and better understand which pathway may be more suitable for your own situation.
