WANTED: Two more divers willing to join our Wreck Diving Expedition to Coron - Philippines. These wrecks have been down for seventy odd years, providing homes to a myriad of sea life. You can expect to see large schools of barracuda, snapper, fusiliers, batfish, lionfish, and groupers, alongside turtles, varied soft and hard corals, and macro life like seahorses, nudibranchs, and pipefish. All About Scuba was proud to support this fantastic initiative at Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool, made possible through the collaboration of Friends of Coburg Olympic Pool, Scout Scuba Vic, YMCA Victoria, and the Merri-bek team.

This day demonstrated how community organisations, local facilities, and the dive industry can work together to create meaningful opportunities — from introducing young people to scuba diving, through to supporting Divemaster development and encouraging the community to support the local facilities that surround our home.

We greatly appreciate the warm welcome and proactive support from the pool staff and management, and we commend Scout Scuba Vic for delivering a safe, professional, and engaging program.

We encourage other community groups and facilities to explore similar partnerships. When we work together, we create stronger pathways, better experiences, and more accessible diving opportunities for all.

🤿 SCUBA DIVING AT THE POOL!
Since Friends of Coburg Olympic Pool (FCOP) began in 2007, campaigning to get Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool reopened, we have advocated for broader usage of our community’s under-utilised pool.

So we were thrilled to have been a catalyst for this new use! FCOP introduced Ronald, the owner of All About Scuba, to Bridie, the Active Merri-bek Centre Manager, who then enthusiastically facilitated the proposal to do some scuba classes at the pool.

🎉And on Sunday it happened!

From Bruce Ellis, Scouts Victoria State Leader Scuba, who ran the successful day:

“Scout Scuba Vic is an Adventurous Activities group within Scouting. We run Scuba diving activities for all of the State, for 14+ year old scouts (Venturer Scouts). We run Discover Scuba Dives, and teach all the way to instructor level thru PADI.

And none of would have happened without active support from the dive industry, especially our good friends at All About Scuba".
