11 years ago I had the honour of awarding Louise her Black belt in John Will’s presence.

Today I was very proud to see Louise being awarded her 3rd degree by our coach John Will, witnessed by John’s coach Rigan Machado.

In 1994 I thought I’d check out what this ground-fighting stuff was about and made my way to Victoria Ranges where I met John Will.

I quickly realised that this ground-stuff was legit and that John was the right coach for me.

As the years passed by John became a mentor and installed in me a sense of curiosity and passion for Jiu Jitsu that continues to this day.

31 years later I am proud to have been present as John was promoted to Coral belt by his coach Rigan Machado.

Congratulations John, Jiu Jitsu in Australia wouldn’t be what it is today without you.

Today Sunday September 14th 2025 Rigan Machado presented John with his Coral Belt.

Just a reminder that there are no Taekwondo classes this evening due to the grading in Doncaster.
