“Meeting place”, hand built forms using various types of stoneware, matte white glaze, connected with using nichrome and jewellery wire.
🐠
Artist Statement:
Meeting place explores the relationship between the human and non-human through sculptural depictions of fishing practises.
The work is intended to be a meeting place for microorganisms and create a dialogue between species, commenting on their relationships and how these have morphed throughout time. “Meeting Place” intends to create an organic and archaic feel in order to highlight the practices of ancient peoples, and attempts to reconstruct their animistic views and deep interconnectedness with surrounding ecologies in a contemporary context
