At St Mary’s, we are proud of our rich cultural diversity. St Mary’s Primary runs a free playgroup for children aged 6 months to 5 years old.

Our school community is a vibrant mosaic of different cultures, languages, and traditions, reflecting the broader community of Dandenong. Sessions run from 9am - 10:40am on Monday mornings. Sharyn & Marilyn look forward to seeing you there.

Well done to families who are helping their child through the digital world. Some great feedback to you from eSafety Commissioner.

As children across Australia settle into school for Term 3, it’s the perfect time to check in about their online experiences and habits.

New eSafety research shows parents and carers of 10–17-year-olds are doing an incredible job supporting their children online, with over 90% already talking about online safety 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👏

But the online world is changing so quickly and some of the biggest emerging risks aren’t being discussed as often. Our research found:
📲 1 in 4 parents talk about how algorithms influence what children see online
🤖 1 in 10 discuss how generative AI can be used and misused
💰 Fewer than 1 in 10 have talked about sextortion.

There isn’t one conversation that prepares children for every online experience. What matters most is creating an environment where they know they can come to a trusted adult if something doesn’t feel right and keeping those check-ins going as they grow.

Whether it’s talking about social media, AI or how and why online content ends up in their feeds, even small, regular chats can make a real difference.

If you’re not sure where to start, eSafety is here to help. Explore our free resources, including webinars, guides, conversation starters and a newsletter to help you navigate today’s online challenges with confidence: eSafety.gov.au/parents
