Some great tips here for families on bullying and a link with prevention strategies for you to use at home.
Families play a powerful role in preventing bullying. Here are some simple strategies to create a safe and supportive environment for your child:
- Talk regularly – Encourage open conversations about their day and how they’re feeling.
- Teach empathy and respect – Show your child how to understand and value others’ feelings.
- Set boundaries for technology use – Help your child navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
- Be a role model – Demonstrate kindness, respect, and positive conflict resolution in your own relationships.
- Build strong family connections – Spend quality time together to foster trust and resilience.
By creating a supportive home environment, you can help your child develop the skills to build positive relationships and stand up to bullying.

Why is it so hard to get your child off their screen?
With the UK moving towards a social media ban for under-16s, many parents are asking the same question:
“Why is it so hard to get my child off their screen?”
The answer is often more complicated than “they just need more self-control.”
Many apps, games and platforms are designed to capture attention, deliver rapid rewards and keep the brain coming back for more. When a child is stressed, bored, lonely, overwhelmed or simply looking for a quick boost, screens can become the fastest way to change how they feel.
Over time, some children can find themselves caught in a cycle where switching off feels genuinely difficult. What looks like defiance, arguing or “addiction” is often a developing brain struggling to step away from something that provides instant stimulation and relief.
Understanding the cycle helps us move away from blame and towards better conversations, healthier boundaries and practical support.
I’ve created a FREE download called Curious Conversations: The Screen-Dopamine Cycle to help parents and educators structure those often difficult conversations about screen time in a calm, curious and non-confrontational way.

Looking for something fun to do this weekend with the family? Thanks City of Greater Dandenong

What a great way to report issues in the City of Greater Dandenong. Check the link below.
Clear signs make for safer streets. 🛑
For this Fix-it Friday, we’re looking at a great result from the City of Greater Dandenong. This 'No Standing' sign had faded into the background, leaving the parking rules a total mystery.
It’s the small things, like a legible sign, that keep traffic flowing smoothly and safely. Now, residents and visitors alike know exactly where they can (and can’t) pull over.
