Next week, we will come together for Student Reflection Day, a chance to pause, embrace our strengths, and reflect on everything we have achieved and learned this term. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our growth, recognise the challenges we’ve overcome, and look ahead with confidence and gratitude.
We are also excited to welcome two special guest speakers:
* Renne Mazloum from Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project
* Therese Nichols from OnePlate
We look forward to a meaningful day of reflection, inspiration, and celebrating the incredible journey we’ve shared this term.

This Refugee Week, we pause to recognise the strength, resilience and courage of people who have been forced to flee their homes and to celebrate the richness they bring to our community.
At Marian , this commitment is lived through our ongoing connection with BASP (Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project). Through this partnership, our students are given opportunities to learn, serve and stand in solidarity with those seeking safety, dignity and belonging.
Refugee Week is a powerful reminder that everyone deserves a place to call home. It calls us to listen deeply, act compassionately, and continue building a community where all are welcomed and valued.
Together, we walk alongside those in needguided by hope, empathy and a commitment to justice.

Now on display in Reception is a historic photograph of Marian College when it first opened in 1957. Featuring our first student leaders, the image provides a glimpse into the College's beginnings and serves as a gentle reminder of how far we have come. It celebrates the enduring values, growth, and strong sense of community that have shaped Marian College throughout its history.

With trust comes responsibility. 🔨🪚 Our Year 7 students have been hard at work building shelves in the woodwork room, safely using tools and equipment while developing skills in sawing, hammering, measuring, cutting and more. We are proud of the maturity and responsibility they show as they learn through hands-on experiences.

This year, the STEM program challenged students to address a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal by identifying a real-world problem and developing an innovative solution. Working in three interest-based groups, students created PowerPoint presentations and dioramas to showcase their research and ideas.
With support from BrainSTEM and RMIT, particularly Sid Verma and Derrick Roberts, the students explored topics including water pollution, microplastics, and renewable energy. Their projects investigated the causes and impacts of these issues and proposed creative solutions, such as an AI-powered water purification robot, strategies to reduce microplastic pollution, and effective ways to harness solar and wind energy.
The program encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation while empowering students to develop solutions for a more sustainable future.

On Friday, 29 May, Year 9 and 10 Real World students had the opportunity to visit the William Angliss Institute. As Australia’s largest specialist training centre for foods, tourism, hospitality, and events, the Institute operates across several campuses, including Melbourne and Sydney, as well as internationally in China, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.
During the visit, our students were guided by one of the Institute’s chefs in creating eclairs. Step by step, they learned key dough-making techniques and gained valuable trade tips.
Every student embraced the challenge and, to their delight, successfully produced their own eclairs. To round out the experience, the group dined at the Institute’s Bistro, a restaurant run entirely by current students, who took orders, prepared meals, and provided service. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable experience that gave students a valuable insight into the hospitality industry.
