A headliner of the 2026 , Berlin Hero is a bittersweet tragicomedy about the power of collective memory. Featuring acclaimed actors such as Daniel Brühl and Christiane Paul, Berlin Hero is the final film from German director Wolfgang Becker (Good Bye, Lenin!), who died shortly after its completion.

Set in Berlin, 2019, approaching the 30 year anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the film follows the life of struggling video rental shop owner Micha Hartung (Charly Hübner). When an ambitious journalist publishes an interview about Micha’s alleged involvement in the biggest mass escape in the history of the DDR, Micha unwillingly becomes an overnight media sensation.

However, what first began as an opportunity to make some easy money soon spirals into a never-ending series of half-truths and lies, threatening Micha’s growing relationship with Paula (Christiane Paul) and his newfound fame.

1. Grab your supplies- you will need: one or more branches, eggs, paint, paint brushes, ribbon or string, a vase, and sand 🌿🪴
2. Blow out your eggs- pierce a small hole in each end of a raw egg with a pin. Blow through one end until the egg is empty. Rinse with warm water and let dry completely. 🥚
3. Decorate your eggs- Paint, dye, or decorate your blown eggs however you like! Try pastel watercolours, floral patterns or polka dots! 🎨
4. String your eggs- Thread a length of ribbon or twine through each egg using a needle. Tie a knot or bead at the bottom to keep the egg in place. Leave a long loop at the top for hanging. 🎀🧵
5. Setting up your Osterbaum- Fill your vase with sand to hold the branches upright. Arrange the branches until you love the shape- taller in the back, smaller in front works great!
6. Hang your eggs- Hang your decorated eggs on the branches and enjoy! 🌸

Your Osterbaum is ready to brighten up your home. Tag us to show us yours! 🐣

Hidden in the secret alleyways of Melbourne, we interviewed Berlin Bar. Split in half by the Berlin wall, the opulent West side of the bar is capitalist, and the East side is communist. The cocktails are cold war themed, and everywhere you look is a hidden detail or a piece of propaganda. Come find Berlin Bar at: 16 Corrs Lane, 3000 Melbourne CBD.
