Today at St Helena Early Learning we were very lucky to have a special visit from Harrison’s mum, Megan, who came to our service in her ambulance!

The children were so excited to explore the ambulance, learn about the important role paramedics play in our community and ask lots of curious questions along the way. Megan kindly showed the children some of the equipment used to help people when they are sick or injured and spoke about how ambulances help keep our community safe.

Experiences like these help children build confidence, understanding and connections with the important people and services in our community.

A huge thank you to Megan for taking the time to visit us and create such a memorable experience for our children today!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums, grandmothers and special carers in our St Helena Early Learning community!

Over the past week, we have loved celebrating the important women in our children’s lives with a very special Mother’s Day evening and beautiful afternoon tea shared throughout the centre. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, conversations, laughter and special moments between families and children.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make these celebrations so memorable.

Wishing all our families a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation and precious moments together.

At St Helena Early Learning, our outdoor workshop has been buzzing with excitement as the children explore the world of construction using real tools such as hammers, nails, and wood.

Working with these materials provides rich opportunities for children to develop confidence, coordination, and problem-solving skills in a safe and supervised environment. They take great pride in planning, creating, and bringing their ideas to life, whether it’s building a structure, designing a masterpiece, or simply experimenting with how things fit together.

This kind of hands-on learning encourages resilience, persistence, and creativity, all while fostering a strong sense of achievement.
We love seeing our learners engage in meaningful, real-world experiences that support their growth and independence every day.

ANZAC Day is a time to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and mateship of those who have served our country. It is an important opportunity to honour their legacy and help our children begin to understand the values of respect, remembrance, and gratitude.

At St Helena Early Learning, we recognised this special day through a range of meaningful experiences. The children engaged in thoughtful activities that encouraged conversation about ANZAC Day, and they especially enjoyed making traditional ANZAC cookies together—learning about their history and significance along the way.

Lest we forget.

What a wonderful week we had celebrating Easter at St Helena! Our centre was filled with laughter, creativity, and plenty of fun as the children immersed themselves in all things Easter

From exciting Easter egg hunts to hands-on craft activities, the children loved exploring, creating, and discovering together.

We also enjoyed special group times where we talked about Easter traditions, shared stories, and celebrated the joy of being together. Moments like these help build friendships, confidence, and lasting memories

We hope everyone is having a safe and happy Easter!

Mud, mess and magical moments at St Helena Early Learning!

Our children have been busy exploring our outdoor environment through hands-on, imaginative play — mixing, pouring, stirring and creating their own “recipes” using natural materials.

From muddy potions to creative concoctions, these experiences support problem-solving, collaboration and sensory exploration, all while having so much fun!

We love seeing the children’s curiosity come to life as they experiment, share ideas and engage in meaningful play in the sunshine.

Welcome Jodie!

We are absolutely delighted to share the exciting news that Jodie will be joining St Helena Early Learning Leadership Team as our new Centre Manager.

As you all know, we have been thoughtfully searching for the right person to take on this important role following on from Pat’s mat leave departure. Finding someone who truly aligns with our values, community, and vision for high-quality early childhood education was incredibly important to us, and we are confident we have found that in Jodie.

Jodie brings with her many years of experience in the early childhood sector and a deep passion for supporting children, families, and educators to thrive. Her leadership is grounded in genuine care, strong relationships, and a strong commitment to excellence in early learning.

Many of you may remember that Jodie was part of our team during our foundation years. She played an important role in shaping the culture and vision of our service before progressing into a leadership role as an Area Manager for sessional kindergartens. In that position, she supported multiple kindergarten services, strengthened programs, mentored teams, and ensured strong educational practices across communities.

Jodie has chosen to return to St Helena Early Learning because she is passionate about making a meaningful impact within her local community and reconnecting with the heart of early childhood education working closely with children, families, and educators each day. We are incredibly excited to welcome her back and know she will bring warmth, experience, and strong leadership to our centre.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Jodie back to our St Helena community. We look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring. Jodie commences with us on Monday the 2nd of March.

Warm regards,
The St Helena Early Learning Team

Our children love exploring their creativity through painting on canvases, giving them the freedom to express their ideas, emotions and imaginations in their own unique way. Using a range of colours and brushes, the children experimented with different techniques, patterns and textures, proudly creating their very own masterpieces.

Creative experiences like painting support children’s fine motor development, confidence and self-expression, while also encouraging problem-solving and creativity.

We love seeing the joy, focus and pride on their faces as they bring their ideas to life on canvas.
