Monday 21st September - Thursday 24th September is Footy Day Dress Up Week!! Whether it be AFL, NRL, your local team, or a different sport altogether - wear your team colours to show your club pride! You can choose to dress up on one day, or every day - the choice is yours!!

💙 Mangrove Fathers Day Stay & Play 💙

We wanted to say a very big thank you to the dads, mums, granddads, grandmas, and special people who joined us in the Mangrove Kinder Room for our Fathers Day Stay & Play this week! The children loved being able to show you around their Kinder environment, and have you join in on their fun!

We hope you had just as much fun as we did ✨

Yesterday the Billabong Kinder Children and their educators went on an adventure to the Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association in Hastings. We were very excited to catch the community bus, which was made even more exciting being driven by Ms Kath the Kangaroo 🦘

The children were immersed in Indigenous culture, exploring native plants, bush tucker, learning words in Bunurong Boon Wurrung language, as well as learning about the vital connection and responsibility that we have to Mother Earth 🌍.

Aunty Julie took the children and educators for a Walk on Country, and spoke about all the different plants and animals we could see and hear.

Thank you to Aunty Julie and the team at Willum Warrain for having us!

📖 BOOK WEEK IS NEXT WEEK 📖

Don't forget that Book Week is next week - Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August. Children are welcome to dress up just for one day, or for all of the days!

We cannot wait to see your creativity and costumes!!

We are excited to celebrate Book Week from Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August, and invite all children to join in the fun by dressing up as a favourite book character.

Book Week is a special opportunity to inspire and foster a love of reading, develop children's creativity and imagination, and encourage meaningful conversations about stories and characters. Through books, children explore new ideas, build empathy, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their literacy skills, all while having fun!!

To make this celebration as inclusive as possible, children are welcome to:
-Dress up on one day, a few days, or all five days.
-Re-use costumes from previous years.
-Create a costume from items already at home.
-Wear simple accessories, colours, or clothing that represent a character.
-Get creative with homemade costumes using cardboard, paper, hats, or craft materials.

Please remember that costumes do not need to be expensive or elaborate. Some of the most memorable costumes are often the simplest and most creative. The focus is on celebrating books, stories, and participation rather than the costume itself.

Some easy and low-cost ideas include:
-Harry Potter (school uniform, glasses, and a drawn-on lightning bolt)
-Where's Wally (striped shirt and beanie)
-The Gruffalo (brown clothing and homemade ears)
-The Very Hungry Caterpillar (green clothing)
-Matilda (a book and blue dress)
-The Cat in the Hat (black and white clothing with a homemade hat)

We can't wait to see the wonderful book characters come to life throughout the week and celebrate the power of reading together.

Get ready for a cozy week at the centre;
NEXT WEEK IS PYJAMA WEEK !!!

Every day next week, children across all rooms are welcome to come dressed in their pyjamas and bring a gold coin donation to help raise vital funds to support children living in foster care!

We look forward to a week filled with cozy pyjamas, big smiles, and lots of fun!

Protective behaviours are life skills that help children
Recognise, React to, and Report risky or unsafe people
and situations. Even young children can learn these skills.

These posters have some helpful information on how families can promote and egage in safety chats with their children, and encourage protective behaviour skills.
