Today we hosted a beautiful morning tea for ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’, raising money for the Cancer Council. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for joining us and helping to raise money for such a vital cause.
We are so pleased to say that, together, we have raised over $500, exceeding our goal! 💛

This $500+ helps to provide training to leaders of cancer support groups where people can meet and share their experiences in an emotionally supportive environment. We sincerely thank you for all your donations!

We are so grateful for all the support from our families and the community and cannot wait until our next event! 💛

Join us next Thursday, 11th June from 10:30am - 11:45am as we raise money for the cancer council by hosting a delicious family & community morning tea between our piazza and garden space!

The children will help us with planning treats to bake, as well as setting up decorations.

To continue our ongoing lifecycle inquiry project, yesterday we introduced Daisy (mummy bunny) and her 4 kittens into our service! 🩵

Over the next 4 week, we will observe, care for and respond to the needs of Daisy and her litter in a calm and quiet environment. As the kittens are only one week old, we are patiently waiting for them to open their eyes and take their first little hops. 🐇

The wellbeing and needs of all animals within our environment is our utmost priority. That’s why we support children to develop a strong sense of empathy and respect for the other living things in our world through ongoing discussions, reflections and hands-on experiences.

Where do they come from?
What do they eat?
What do they need?
What do we need to do to protect them and keep them safe and secure?

Yesterday during our Bush Kinder program, the children collaborated to make a pretend campfire and marshmallows to roast!

“Here, we can use the leaves and the sticks, like this" - M.G demonstrated by pushing leaves through the point of a stick.

We then toasted our "marshmallows" above our pretend campfire.

"you know, when I go camping, we make a campfire". - G.Y explained.

On the way back from Bush Kinder, we saw a bit of rubber when crossing the road, which was long like a snake. 🐍

Many questions were then asked about snakes…

"how long do snakes sleep for?”

"how do long do snakes live for?"

"Where do snakes come from?"

- L.K asked, with a curious mind!

We then talked about snake eggs, asking "do snakes hatch from eggs?"

As we come to the end of our butterfly lifecycle program, we celebrate the beautiful journey of the tiny caterpillars blossoming into healthy and vibrant Monarch Butterflies!
What an amazing way to say farewell, releasing the magnificent creatures into the wild to find a new home! 🌳

Today we celebrated in a cosy fashion, with our Easter-themed pyjamas, making biscuits, eating hot cross buns with fruit, painting and making eggs out of clay and engaging in a special Easter egg hunt with our families!! 🩵

📖🐣C O M M U N I T Y C E L E B R A T I O N S🐣📖

To celebrate Easter and the upcoming International Children’s Book Day (this Thursday!) we took the kinder children on an adventure to our neighbours and resident friends at Pinetree Retirement Village! 🌲

We started our session by engaging in a storytime with Keith and Cathy, who read the book 'A Beginner's Guide to Choosing the Perfect Pet' by Ali Rutstein & Tommy Doyle. Throughout the story, we engaged in discussions around the pets we have at home. They then gifted us the book to take back to Nido Donvale, serving as a special memento of our visit. 💚

After our story, we explored the garden through a special Easter egg hunt, finding all the big colourful eggs!

The Kinders then gifted an Easter card that they had made for the residents!

Such special moments and beautiful connections, creating memories that will last a lifetime!

We can’t wait until our next adventure!
To quote what one of our kinder children said today, “I love excursions! It’s nice to go out” - L.K (kinder 4)…we couldn’t agree more! 🩷
