Care for country inquiry project
Week 2 – Vermont
(Getting to know our plants)
Vermont kinders learned what is bush tucker, and explored bush tucker through hands-on sensory experiences, engaging their sense of smell and touch to connect with natural materials. They further developed their understanding through story reading and group discussions about how plants grow and what they need to survive. Building on this learning, the children participated in planting additional bush tucker plants, contributing to the growth of the garden and strengthening their awareness of caring for and respecting the natural environment

Our special visitors have arrived at Goodstart Vermont north this week. 🐥
Over the past few days, the children have been excitedly watching the chicks hatch and emerge from their eggs. This hands-on experience has been a wonderful opportunity to learn about the chicken life cycle, from egg to chick, while encouraging curiosity, observation, and discussion.
The children have loved caring for and interacting with the chicks, creating many memorable learning moments along the way.

Reconciliation Week at Goodstart Vermont North. 🖤💛♥️
Throughout Reconciliation Week, the children participated in a variety of meaningful experiences that helped them learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contributions.
Together, we explored Indigenous stories, created artwork inspired by First Nations cultures, engaged in discussions about respect, belonging, and community.
We are proud to support the journey of reconciliation and thank all our children, families, and educators for embracing these important learning experiences together.

Our kinder children had a wonderful time on the Walk on Country excursion, exploring nature with curiosity and excitement. We extended their learning by discussing how to protect and respect the environment, the importance of trees for animals, and how Aboriginal people care for the land. Children also engaged their five senses by listening to natural sounds and exploring different textures in the environment.
After returning to the classroom, we used the collected natural materials to extend our numeracy learning. Children compared the size of leaves, the length of sticks, and explored differences in weight, developing their observation and measurement skills through hands-on experiences.

Yesterday we celebrated Harmony Day with lots of fun and meaningful activities! 🧡
The children explored what harmony means—kindness, respect, and including everyone—through creative play, group discussions, and hands-on activities. From sharing stories to working together, it was wonderful to see them learning how our differences make us stronger.
We are proud to support a culture where everyone feels valued and a sense of belonging. 🌏✨
