e: [email protected] for inquiries. FOR THE FUNGI

16/05/2022

I know I know, you haven’t seen this smiling face in quite a while… well that’s because it hasn’t been smiling all that much lately. Like a lot of people, I have had a very difficult couple of years. Without telling you my whole life story, I would like to share something very vulnerable with you all. If you haven’t noticed, the pronouns in my bio have recently been changed to they/he as I have been bravely venturing head first through the journey that is gender dysphoria. I have felt the need to step away from many things, including Unearth Mycology, as I regroup and work(and I mean WORK) on my mental health. A part of this work has led me to come to the decision to finally book in for top surgery! So I am going to whack the link for my gofundme in my bio and if you could donate anything at all or even just share the link, it would be greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to let you know that I certainly haven’t given up on this space, I will be with the fungi forever. Hopefully I’ll be back in the space very soon, doing all things mushrooms

Time spent with good friends, building bushcraft shelters, outside and in open spaces and sleeping til noon. Trying to take life a little less seriously and doing what I feel is right for me during this time

Shout out to all of the mushroom farmers doing it tough through all of these lockdowns.

If you’re on the Mornington Peninsula and you’re looking for a variety of fresh, locally grown mushrooms you can head over to the website. We do deliveries all over the Peninsula in different quantities. You can also message me directly.

You can also get mushrooms in:

Dandenong Ranges
Ballarat
Inner Melbourne
Langwarrin

Most of them do delivery to their surrounding areas, so head over to their Instagram pages and show them some mushy love!

Hey everyone, sorry you haven’t heard from me in a while.

Thought I’d share a bit of an update on things. I’ve been busy getting my hands in the soil working in a bush crew around Melbourne, doing a bit of conservation and some native plant nursery work. As well as continuing my work in the mushroom farm . I’ve also been working on a van build as my partner and I are setting off soon to travel around Australia! I will be running workshops along the way, amongst other things, so keep an ear out for upcoming news on that.

Have a happy somewhat sunny Wednesday!

Morning harvest ritual

There is so much beauty in it’s simplicity. It’s the moment of pause through all the chaos, remembering to give gratitude, not just for what fungi physically produce, but for all the teachings they have offered. It’s simply admiring their elegance and their beauty. It’s readying them for their next journey, to chefs kitchens and farm gates, and then to dinner plates. It’s remembering why you’re doing this in the first place as it can be so easy to forget. After all the hard work, the harvest is there to show you that it is all worth it in the end

While all of this Covid craziness is happening here in Victoria, I’ll just be outside doing what I love, getting lost in the wonderful world of fungi
