Students at Red Hill Consolidated School have been learning on Country with Aunty Sammy Trist, exploring Kulin culture through hands‑on Deadly Arts sessions.

From grinding ochre and painting, to learning the six Kulin seasons and tasting edible plants, students have connected deeply with culture, story and place. The term finished with a beautiful community day where students, families and Aunty Sammy came together to heal Country by removing weeds and planting local native species.

A powerful, joyful term of cultural learning and creativity funded by Victorian Department of Education (Strategic Partnerships Program).

🎶 Turn it up! Here’s a snippet of "Chicken Sizzle" created as part of The Song Room's Primary Production program! 🎤

The talented Grade 3–6 students at Talbot Primary School teamed up with awesome industry mentors to write and record their very own tracks - they even designed their own album cover! From the older students stepping up as leaders to everyone bringing their creative ideas to life, the energy, engagement, and pride in the room were unmatched!

As one student put it: “That’s our song? That actually sounds sick.” 🔥

Talbot PS wrapped up its Primary Production program with a high‑energy tune‑in party and the release of three original tracks for the Talbot Primary School Album.

In just two days, students wrote and recorded their songs with professional music creators and producers Ann Laverty and Demi‑Louise Barton, working alongside their Song Room teaching artist Rebecca. The intensive boosted confidence, and helped students to share ideas, make group decisions, and perform proudly.

This was especially powerful for students who find traditional learning challenging. They engaged deeply, supported one another and experienced real creative success .
