The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University engages in world-class research and has a long history as a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education. The faculty's recently redeveloped curriculum is purpose designed for

the study of pharmacy and pharmaceutical science and taught by discipline experts. Education
The educational profile of the faculty comprises two undergraduate programs, four postgraduate coursework and two higher degrees by research courses. Over 1800 students are enrolled in these programs. Leading the way in education innovation, the faculty's driving force behind introducing innovative technologies is student learning outcomes and over 90% of the faculty's students complete their respective courses. The faculty considers access to high postgraduate courses as crucial. It is a founding member of the National Alliance for Pharmacy Education which aims to support the on-going advancement of the pharmacy profession through the provision of such courses by leveraging resources, experience and expertise from its university members. Research
The key research initiatives within the faculty, engaging more than 400 research staff and postgraduate students, are the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science Education Research. Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is the largest, best equipped and most experienced group of pharmaceutical scientists in Australia and the Centre of Medicine Use and Safety is working to develop, implement and evaluate new, better models and systems of health care practice. The faculty, which incorporates the Victorian College of Pharmacy, is located at Monash University's Parkville campus, on the land of the Wurundjeri people. The campus is 3km north of Melbourne's city centre and is part of the ‘Parkville strip' - Australia's premier health and biomedical precinct.

Two leading D4 research groups. One shared vision for the future of cell therapies.

MIPS researchers from the laboratories of Professor Angus Johnston and Professor Colin Pouton at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS) have joined forces with CREATE Medicines in a new strategic research collaboration focused on advancing targeted in vivo CAR therapies.

Today, most CAR-T therapies require a patient's immune cells to be removed, engineered outside the body and then returned through a complex manufacturing process. The vision for in vivo cell therapies is different: engineering those immune cells directly inside the body.

Imagine replacing a highly specialised cell-manufacturing process with a targeted injection that delivers genetic instructions to the right immune cells, at the right time. Achieving that vision depends on solving one of the field's biggest challenges: targeted delivery.

Bringing together the complementary expertise of two D4 research groups, led by Professor Angus Johnston and Professor Colin Pouton, alongside Dr Moore Chen, this collaboration combines world-leading research in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery with CREATE's clinical-stage mRNA platform to help unlock the next generation of programmable medicines.

As Professor Angus Johnston said: "Targeted delivery is one of the central challenges in realising the promise of in vivo cell therapies and pairing our LNP technology with CREATE's platform is a powerful step toward solving it."

A fantastic example of collaboration within D4, bringing together the Johnston and Pouton groups to translate cutting-edge drug delivery research into future therapies for cancer, autoimmune disease and beyond.

At the Monash Prato Centre, our third-year pharmacy students were undertaking the Inquiry and Innovation Methods unit as part of the Monash Global Campus Intensive (MGCI) program in Italy.

This intensive unit gives students a deeper understanding of how pharmacy research is designed and applied, including how to write ethics proposals, plan studies, and analyse data.

Taught by expert academics from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the unit offers hands-on and collaborative research experience in a global setting.

Graduation marks both an ending and a beginning.
