NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK ❤️💛🖤
From the 27th of May to the 3rd of June, Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten proudly celebrated National Reconciliation Week, taking time to further explore the meaning of reconciliation in age-appropriate and meaningful ways with our children.
Throughout the week, educators and children came together to engage in discussions, stories, experiences, and learning opportunities that deepened our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives. While embedding Indigenous perspectives is something we strive to do every day within our service, Reconciliation Week provided an opportunity to further reflect on the importance of respect, relationships, and our shared journey towards reconciliation.
The children spent time exploring and connecting with Country, discussing ways we can care for and respect the land around us, while also learning about the significance of coming together as a community.
In line with this year's theme, our educators and children collaborated to create a beautiful new hallway banner. Children contributed their own handprints, explored Indigenous symbol stamps, demonstrated their understanding of the meanings behind the symbols, and worked together to create a shared artwork that reflects connection, belonging, and unity. The finished piece stands as a wonderful reminder of what can be achieved when we come together and learn from one another.
We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful conversations, learning, and creativity that took place throughout the week and remain committed to continuing our reconciliation journey every day.

GROWING TOGETHER 💚🌱
At Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we are so proud to celebrate the incredible work of our educator Tash, who has thoughtfully created our very own Community Share Station for our families.
Through this beautiful initiative, we are now able to harvest from our veggie garden and bush tucker gardens and share the delicious produce we have grown with our community. It’s a wonderful way to encourage connection, generosity, and sustainability within our service.
Tash has also put so much care and dedication into documenting our sustainability journey, creating a book that can be shared across all age groups. This has become something our children are incredibly proud of, as they see their learning, experiences, and contributions reflected in a meaningful and ongoing way.
We are also so excited to introduce our ‘Garden Diaries’—a special space for families to contribute! We can’t wait to see what our families share with us about how they have used the produce, what they have taken from the garden, and the connections they continue to build at home.
Our Sustainability Journey Book also beautifully incorporates and showcases the consistent and respectful inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives across our service, highlighting the deep connection between people, land, and sustainable practices. This supports our children in developing an understanding of caring for Country and the importance of sustainability in our everyday lives.
A huge thank you to Tash for her passion, creativity, and ongoing commitment to enriching our learning environment and strengthening our community connections!

ANZAC Day 🌺
Last week at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we took time to acknowledge and commemorate ANZAC Day with our children and educators.
As ANZAC Day fell on the Saturday, our service came together on Friday to hold our own minute of silence, providing a calm and respectful moment for reflection.
Throughout the week, the children were introduced to the meaning of ANZAC Day in age-appropriate ways through storytelling, discussions, and shared conversations. We explored the significance of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and what it represents for those who have served and sacrificed.
The children also engaged in a variety of creative art experiences, expressing their understanding through thoughtful and meaningful creations. In addition, our Blossom Room and Rainforest Room enjoyed making traditional ANZAC biscuits, connecting to the history of the day in a hands-on and engaging way.
These experiences supported the children in developing an early understanding of remembrance, respect, and community, while fostering meaningful conversations in a gentle and inclusive manner.
Lest We Forget.

EASTER 🌸🐰
Today at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we celebrated Easter with so much joy, excitement, and a little bit of magic!
Throughout the week, the children have been engaging in a variety of Easter-inspired experiences—exploring creativity, participating in themed activities, and building their understanding of this special celebration in meaningful and playful ways.
The highlight of today was a very special visit from the Easter Bunny himself! The children were beyond excited as they spotted our fluffy visitor hopping through the yard, leaving behind a trail of surprises.
Following this magical visit, the children took part in an Easter Hunt, searching high and low around the yard to discover the special gifts the Easter Bunny had hidden just for them. The excitement, teamwork, and joy shared during the hunt created such a memorable experience for all.
Moments like these support a sense of wonder, belonging, and shared celebration within our learning community, while also creating lasting memories for our little learners.
We hope you enjoy a glimpse into our Easter celebrations!

Eid al-Fitr & Nowruz ✨🌿🌙
At the end of last week, Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten came together to acknowledge and celebrate two beautiful and meaningful cultural events — Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, and Nowruz, the Persian New Year.
These celebrations provided a wonderful opportunity for children to explore traditions, cultures and the ways in which people around the world celebrate special moments with their families and communities 🤍
Educators thoughtfully introduced children to the significance of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, sharing age-appropriate stories and engaging in discussions about kindness, giving, gratitude and togetherness. Children learned how families celebrate the end of Ramadan with joy, connection and reflection.
We also explored Nowruz, learning about themes of renewal, new beginnings. Through conversations and experiences, children were introduced to the idea of fresh starts, growth and celebrating life with loved ones.
Throughout the week, children engaged in a variety of meaningful experiences, including:
- Storytelling and group discussions about cultural traditions
- Creative experiences inspired by celebration, light and renewal
- Opportunities to share their own family traditions and experiences
- Exploring symbols, colours and foods connected to these celebrations
These experiences support children in building respect, understanding and appreciation for the diverse cultures within our community and beyond.
At ACCCK, we are proud to create an environment where all cultures are acknowledged, celebrated and respected — helping children to grow into kind, inclusive and culturally aware individuals.
