FATHER'S DAY MORNING TEA 🛠️💙

Today at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the amazing dads, grandfathers and special father figures in our children’s lives with our Father’s Day Morning Tea!

It was fantastic to welcome so many of our families into the centre and see our children proudly sharing their learning spaces and spending some special quality time with the important people in their lives.

Throughout the morning, our children and their special guests were invited to enjoy a range of fun experiences together. There were temporary tattoos, creative art experiences, and plenty of games and activities out in the yard, providing lots of opportunities for children and their loved ones to play, create, laugh and make some wonderful memories together.

These special events are about so much more than the activities themselves. They provide an opportunity for our children to share a part of their world at ACCCK with the people they love while strengthening the important connections between our children, families, educators and wider centre community.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today! We loved having you spend the morning with us and hope you enjoyed celebrating alongside the children as much as we enjoyed having you.

We would also like to wish all of the wonderful dads, grandfathers, stepdads and special father figures within our ACCCK community a very Happy Father’s Day for Sunday! We hope you have a beautiful day surrounded by those who make you feel loved and appreciated.

EDUCATORS DAY 🌿💛

Yesterday at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we celebrated Early Childhood Educators’ Day - a special opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible educators who make a difference in the lives of our children and families each and every day.

Working in Early Childhood Education is so much more than simply caring for children. Our educators are teachers, nurturers, advocates, role models, comforters and collaborators. They create environments where children feel safe and valued, foster their curiosity and independence, support their individual development and build the meaningful relationships that form such an important foundation for lifelong learning.

We are incredibly proud of the passionate and dedicated team we have at ACCCK and the knowledge, care, creativity and commitment they bring to our service every day.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful families for the overwhelming support, kind words and beautiful gifts provided for our educators. Feeling recognised and appreciated by the families we work alongside means so much to our team, and we are incredibly grateful to have such a supportive community surrounding us.

A very special thank you also goes to our Committee of Management for the delicious gifts they provided for our team and for continuing to recognise and support the important work of our educators.

Our educators were also very spoilt by our Management Team, with each team member receiving their own individual gift bag filled with delicious treats from Rocky Road Chocolates T/A Grandma Jeans Lollies & Chocolates - Melbourne Chocolate alongside providing such a delicious lunch catered for by Pasta Al Dente! Thank you for making every member of our team feel individually appreciated and celebrated.

Early Childhood Educators’ Day is an important reminder of the significant role early childhood professionals play - not only in educating and caring for children, but in supporting families, advocating for children, creating inclusive communities and helping shape the foundations upon which children will continue to learn and grow.

To our entire ACCCK team - thank you for everything you bring to our children, families and service. Your work matters, your contribution is valued, and we hope you felt just how appreciated you are.

And once again, thank you to our families, Committee of Management and Management Team for helping us make this year's celebration such a special one!

BOOK WEEK✨🎶📚

Last week, Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten celebrated Children’s Book Week 2026, embracing this year’s wonderful theme, “Symphony of Stories.”

Throughout the week, our service came alive with stories, imagination, creativity, and a shared love of books! Children across all of our rooms participated in a variety of literacy-rich experiences inspired by stories, books, and some of their favourite characters.

One of the highlights of the week was seeing both our children and educators arrive dressed as their favourite storybook characters! From much-loved classics to newer favourites, it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and bringing the characters from the pages of their favourite books to life. The costumes also sparked lots of conversations between children and educators as they shared the stories and characters that are special to them.

Our educators incorporated storytelling, creative art experiences, dramatic and imaginative play, group discussions, music, and plenty of opportunities for the children to explore and enjoy books together throughout their daily programs.

This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” provided a beautiful opportunity to explore how every story brings something different - just like the different sounds and instruments within a symphony. Together, stories can take us on adventures, introduce us to new people and places, inspire our imaginations, and help us understand the world from many different perspectives.

From our youngest book lovers through to our oldest, it was wonderful to see the children listening, wondering, imagining, creating, dressing up, and sharing their enthusiasm for storytelling throughout the week.

Book Week is also a wonderful reminder of the important role books play within early childhood. Sharing stories supports children’s language and communication, creativity, early literacy, emotional development, and their ability to connect with the experiences and perspectives of others.

A huge thank you to our wonderful children, educators and families for embracing the celebrations, putting so much effort into the fantastic costumes, and helping us make Book Week 2026 such a memorable week!

What a wonderful “Symphony of Stories” we created together!

SCIENCE WEEK 🧪🔬

Last week at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we celebrated Science Week with our little scientists, creating lots of opportunities to explore, investigate, experiment, question, and discover the world around us!

Across all of our rooms, educators incorporated science-inspired experiences into their programs, encouraging children to become curious thinkers and enthusiastic investigators. From our youngest learners through to our oldest children, everyone had the opportunity to get involved in hands-on experiences that encouraged them to ask questions, make predictions, test ideas, and discover what happens when we experiment.

Throughout the week, the children explored a variety of science, sensory, and investigation experiences, using everyday materials and open-ended resources to explore concepts such as cause and effect, movement, balance, textures, materials, and change.

Our educators supported the children to wonder “What will happen if…?”, encouraging them to make their own predictions and share their ideas with others.

Science Week was a wonderful reminder that science is everywhere in our early learning environments! Whether children are experimenting with materials, investigating something they have discovered outdoors, building and testing structures, or simply wondering why something happens, they are developing important foundations for scientific thinking.

We loved seeing the children's curiosity, excitement, creativity, and willingness to investigate throughout the week! A huge thank you to our wonderful educators for creating such engaging opportunities for discovery and learning.

DENTAL HEALTH WEEK ✨🦷

Last week at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we proudly celebrated Dental Health Week, incorporating a range of fun and engaging experiences into our programs to promote the importance of oral health and hygiene.

Throughout the week, children across all age groups participated in a variety of hands-on learning experiences. These included exploring toothbrushing techniques, engaging in creative art activities, participating in role play with dental resources, and having discussions around healthy food choices that help keep our teeth strong and clean.

A special highlight for our 3–5 year old groups was a visit from dental assistants from DPV, who shared their knowledge and helped the children learn more about caring for their teeth in a fun, interactive way. The children were excited to take part, ask questions, and build their confidence around visiting the dentist.

It was wonderful to see all of our children—from our youngest through to our oldest—engaged in these meaningful experiences, developing lifelong habits in a positive and supportive environment.

Thank you to our educators for thoughtfully embedding these important learning opportunities into the program, and to our visitors from DPV Health for helping make the week so special!

VANUATU INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇻🇺🌺

Yesterday at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we came together to celebrate Vanuatu Independence Day, recognising and honouring the rich culture, history, and traditions of the Ni-Vanuatu people.

Throughout the day, our children and educators engaged in meaningful experiences that introduced and celebrated the vibrant culture of Vanuatu. We explored elements of daily life, traditions, and the strong sense of community that is so important within Ni-Vanuatu culture.

The service was filled with joy as we listened to and sang along with traditional Vanuatu songs, creating a wonderful atmosphere of connection and celebration across all rooms. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & TEAM BUILDING✨💛

Yesterday, our dedicated team at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten came together for a meaningful and rewarding Professional Development and Team Building Day.

We were incredibly fortunate to welcome Nicole from Talarico Consulting Early Years Consultant, who delivered a thoughtfully tailored professional development session for our team. Together, we explored:
- Strategies for having difficult conversations with parents and staff, including conflict resolution and supporting children with developmental delays
- Building knowledge and confidence in embedding Indigenous cultural perspectives within our program

This session provided valuable insights and practical strategies that will continue to strengthen our practice and support the children and families within our community.

To complement our learning, our team also participated in a fun and engaging team building experience with Hidden Door Experiences. Through a hostage-style simulation, educators worked collaboratively to decode clues and “rescue” our beloved committee member Briar—a huge thank you to her for her fantastic performance and for bringing so much energy and laughter to the day!

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cozy & Coco Mobile Beauty & Wellness for providing our team with a beautiful spa experience, including relaxing massages, manicures, and pedicures—such a well-deserved treat for our hardworking educators.

A special thank you to our wonderful chef Kelly, who prepared a delicious lunch and treats for us throughout the day —we were truly spoilt!

Days like these are so important in strengthening our team, building connections, and continuing to grow as educators. We are proud of our team’s commitment to ongoing learning to provide the highest quality care and education for our children.

NAIDOC Week ❤️💛🖤
Last week at Attwood Child Care Centre & Kindergarten, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, taking time to honour and recognise the histories, cultures, achievements, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Throughout the week, our educators and children engaged in a variety of meaningful, age-appropriate experiences that celebrated Indigenous perspectives and encouraged connection to Country. Through storytelling, creative arts, music, sensory play, and discussions, the children explored the importance of culture, community, and caring for the land.

One of our highlights came from the Rainforest Room, where the children enjoyed a walk through the service to our Bush Tucker Garden. Together, they carefully harvested natural ingredients, including lemon myrtle and Old Man Saltbush, before returning to the classroom to incorporate them into their homemade playdough. This hands-on experience provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with nature, learn about the traditional uses of native Australian plants, and appreciate the knowledge that has been shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for thousands of years.

Across the service, the children embraced opportunities to learn through play, ask questions, create meaningful artworks, and develop a deeper understanding of the rich cultures that continue to shape our nation. These experiences reflect our ongoing commitment to respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday program, fostering respect, curiosity, and a strong connection to Country.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful learning that took place throughout the week and look forward to continuing this journey together with our children and families.
