💙❄️ Big Freeze Challenge 2026 ❄️💙
What an incredible afternoon we had today at Nido Montrose as six of our brave educators took part in the Big Freeze Challenge and were dunked with icy cold water to help raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND)!
There were plenty of laughs, lots of excitement, and a few very chilly teachers, all for an important cause that touches the lives of many Australians.
Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful families and community, we raised over $200 to support MND awareness and research. We are so grateful for everyone’s support and enthusiasm throughout the day.
A huge thank you to our educators for being such great sports and to all the children and families who joined in the fun and cheered them on. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community while supporting a meaningful cause.
💙 Together, we made a difference and had a lot of fun doing it! 💙

This morning, the Wimbi children enjoyed a wonderful visit to Mercy Place, where they joined residents for a creative playdough experience.
Using their hands to mould, shape, and create, the children and residents worked side by side, sharing ideas and conversations. One special moment was when a child carefully copied a cat that a resident had made, showing both admiration and attention to detail.
The experience encouraged collaboration, creativity, and meaningful connections between generations. It was lovely to see the children and residents working together, learning from one another, and enjoying each other's company through play.
Thank you to the residents and staff at Mercy Place for another warm and welcoming visit. We look forward to creating more special memories together.

☕🍫 Chinos and Chats at Hahndorf Chocolate Shop, Montrose 🍫☕
Our recent Chinos and Chats outing with the residents of Mercy Place was filled with wonderful conversations, laughter, and connection.
We began our visit at Hahndorf Chocolate Shop in Montrose, where everyone ordered their favourite coffees and baby chinos before settling in for a lovely chat. Residents and children enjoyed sharing stories about what they had been up to, with plenty of opportunities to connect through conversation. We encouraged the children to engage with our residents by asking questions such as, "Maybe you could share with the residents what you did on the weekend?" These simple moments sparked meaningful discussions and brought smiles to everyone's faces.
After enjoying our drinks and conversations, we moved outside to the garden area for a gentle stroll and some fresh air. It was the perfect way to finish a beautiful morning together before saying goodbye to our lovely residents.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We are already excited about bringing together our next group and creating more wonderful memories! 💕

Our Wimbi's have been busy exploring the wonderful world of butterflies through our current inquiry project 🦋
This inquiry began during Community Kinder when a child picked up a snail and confidently shared that it would turn into a butterfly. This sparked lots of curiosity, questions, and conversations among the children about how animals grow and change.
To extend their learning, the children explored the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar and discussed the life cycle of a butterfly. They have been sharing their ideas, observations, and wonderings as they learn about each stage of the butterfly’s journey.
We are now extending this inquiry further by providing a butterfly life cycle board for the children to explore through hands-on learning experiences, discussion, and play. It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged, curious, and excited to discover more about the natural world around them 🌱🐛🦋

This week we embraced the joy of learning beyond our four walls as we headed out for our Outdoor Classroom Day 🌿
Each group ventured into our local community, exploring, discovering and engaging with the environment in meaningful ways. From climbing, balancing and nature play, to conversations, curiosity and collaboration, the children thrived in this rich, hands-on experience.
Outdoor learning provides endless opportunities to build confidence, resilience and a deeper connection to the world around us. It was wonderful to see the children take risks, problem-solve and immerse themselves in play with such enthusiasm.

Recently our Wimbi's spent some beautiful time in the garden at Mercy Place, planting a new garden bed with the wonderful residents 🌱
There’s something really special about getting our hands in the soil together - sharing stories, laughter, and a few gardening tips along the way. From choosing what to plant to carefully placing each one, everyone played a part in bringing the space to life.
Moments like these aren’t just about gardening - they’re about connection, purpose, and creating something meaningful as a community. We can’t wait to watch everything grow in the coming weeks! 💚

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming some very special visitors to Nido Early School Montrose. We were joined by Adam (CEO of Nido), Naomi (Chief of Staff), Matthew O’Sullivan (Shadow Minister for Choice in Childcare and Early Learning), and Aaron Violi (Member for the Casey electorate).
Their visit was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the meaningful learning experiences and strong sense of community we foster here each day. Together, we invited our guests to extend on our garden project by planting a variety of flowers in our new garden bed—an experience that beautifully connected with our celebrations of Earth Day.
