Todays marked 5 years since Alyssa Milano’s tweet.
Shining a light on the abuse and sexual assault sparking worldwide conversations about the sexism, sexual harassment and abuse suffered by women across the world.
Sexual assault used to remain hidden. It was something that happened, was difficult to prove, and not spoken about. It favoured the perpetrator and shamed the victim.
Sexual assault thrived in silence.

ID a repost tweet by Alyssa Milano that says “If you've been sexually harassed or assaulted write 'me too' as a reply to this tweet. Me too. Suggested by a friend: "If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote 'Me too.' as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem."

“This story's right,
this story's true
I would not tell lies to you
Like the promises they did not keep
And how they fenced us in like sheep.
Said to us come take our hand
Sent us off to mission land.
Taught us to read, to write and pray
Then they took the children away,
Took the children away,
The children away.
Snatched from their mother's breast
Said this is for the best
Took them away.”
