Merry Christmas everyone!! Here is an experimental Tebe rhythm (Timorese rhythm) with a mix of Afro and Cuban. You can call it Afro Tebe and Cuban Tebe. Why not?
Jose Mesquita Drumming
Jose Mesquita is a professional percussionist who has played with several bands around Melbourne.
He is a long time student of Ray Pereira and has studied the rhythms of Cuba & West Africa in depth and specialises in Timorese drumming, a skill inherited from his parents. Jose is currently teaching this fusion of drumming in schools and facilities around Melbourne and is available for further bookings. Congratulations MTC - Melbourne Timorese Club for an amazing event. To host not only one but four successful days of sport, culture and entertainment far exceeded my expectations. It was an honour to be a part of this and see our culture fourish, particularly with our youth. Running workshops and performances with these children was not only a highlight for me but seeing the joy in their faces and in their families watching encouraged me to continue this work with our community. Looking forward to future projects.
