Comprehensive Greek language and culture curriculum from Pre-Prep to VCE.The School provides opportunities for students to develop their potential through a wide range of educational experiences in the Greek language and culture. It does this in the context of the broader Australian multicultural society, and a sense of local, national as well as global community is fostered. Traditional Greek dancing is taught to all students from Grade 1 by a professional instructor as part of the School curriculum. The School believes that an effective learning environment exists where there is a well-managed, caring and supportive environment where individual and group rights are recognized and respected. Student behaviour is managed by positive encouragement; by encouraging sharing, tolerance and compassion; by enhancing and encouraging regular parent-teacher contact; by developing positive relationships among students, and by approving and encouraging self-esteem. The school has an excellent, committed, and qualified teaching staff from both here and abroad, and the ratio of students to staff is very good. The teaching staff works as a dedicated team with a mixture of long-term and shorter-term experiences. The ‘Taxiarches’ Greek School offers a caring and stimulating environment that fosters and develops excellence. Testimony to this is the Year 12 results – our students are ranked as some of the best in the state in Modern Greek with 100% pass rate in this subject for the past ten years. Classes are conducted at Mentone Girls’ Grammar, 11 Mentone Parade, Mentone, by lease agreement, on Friday evening Pre-Prep to VCE from 5:00pm-8:45pm and Saturday morning Pre– Prep to Grade 6 from 9:00-1:00.

Dear families, don’t forget this Saturday afternoon, 19th September, we will be screening the animated movie, ‘David’ at the Parkdake Church Hall at 4pm.

Dear School community,

As we paused this morning to reflect on ANZAC Day, we must also acknowledge not only the courage of the Australian and New Zealand forces, but also the significant role Greece played during the Second World War. Many Australians may not realise how deeply connected our histories are. Greece’s resistance efforts in 1941 delayed Axis forces and contributed to the broader Allied campaign. Thousands of Greek civilians risked their lives to shelter and protect ANZAC soldiers, forging a bond of solidarity that continues to be honoured today.

Our Principal Alexia, together with two of our senior students, Michael Kalopisis and Talia Brigo, represented our school at the Mentone RSL Memorial Park, which stands as a place of remembrance for those who served our nation. During the ceremony, they laid a wreath on behalf of our school to honour the sacrifice of the men and women who served..

We are so proud of our school and our students, who embraced the opportunity to learn about the enduring ties between Australia, New Zealand, and Greece, and to participate in this important commemoration.
