The role of a security officer is not just about preventing crime – it's also about keeping people safe by monitoring behaviour on premises such as shopping centres, offices or entertainment venues. A security officer may need to remove disruptive patrons from these areas if they become aggressive or cause trouble. This can be challenging work because you have to make quick decisions while remaining calm under pressure.
With this qualification you will learn how to patrol premises for suspicious activities; monitor behaviour; screen entry points into buildings; control access within building complexes; operate CCTV surveillance systems; perform crowd management duties including crowd control techniques for events held on private property (e.g., weddings) and some aspects of workplace health & safety.
