Mabo Day | 3 June

Today we acknowledge Mabo Day, a significant day in Australia’s history that recognises Eddie Koiki Mabo and the landmark High Court decision that acknowledged the traditional ownership of land by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

At Little Assets, we value opportunities to learn about and celebrate Australia’s rich Indigenous cultures, histories, and contributions. Together, we continue to foster respect, understanding, and inclusion for future generations.

At Little Assets, we strongly believe that every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and empowered. 💙

As part of our ongoing commitment to child safety, our Child Safety Officers recently visited each room to deliver a Body Safety Incursion, supporting children to develop an understanding of body safety in an age-appropriate and engaging way.

Through meaningful conversations and interactive experiences, children learned about respecting their own bodies, recognising personal boundaries, and respecting their friends’ personal space or “bubble”.

By fostering these important understandings from an early age, we are helping children build confidence, develop respectful relationships, and feel safe in their everyday environments.

Today we explored Aboriginal symbols with the children using flashcards and sand trays. The children were introduced to Indigenous storytelling through symbols such as rain and boomerangs, while enjoying a hands-on sensory experience creating marks and patterns in the sand. 🌿✨ ❤️

We have created a new instrumental area for our children using recycled pots and pans, and the children are absolutely loving exploring different sounds, rhythms, and musical expressions. 🥁🎶

A big thank you to our wonderful families for generously donating pots and pans to help bring this learning space to life. Your support helps us create meaningful and engaging experiences for the children every day. 💛

Today we pause to reflect, listen, and acknowledge the strength and resilience of the families, and communities. National Sorry Day reminds us of the importance of truth, healing, and walking together with respect and compassion. 🖤💛❤️

Today at Little Assets, we celebrated International Nurses Day with a very special visit from one of our wonderful parents 👩‍⚕️🩺

The children were so excited to learn about nurses, explore real nursing tools, and ask lots of curious questions. Thank you for making our day so meaningful, fun, and full of learning! ❤️✨
