In celebrating 30 years of Summer by the Sea, weโ€™re sharing some reflections from Di Moore, a current DEECA staff member who was still at university when the program started in 1996! ๐ŸŽ“

Di started as a Summer Activities Coordinator with around 40 volunteers from across the state.

"I am testament to the legacy of those involved - volunteers and participants alike - many of whom have gone on to careers in marine and coastal protection and management.

Most people who take part in the program value and continue to care for the marine and coastal environment with greater appreciation and understanding."

From volunteer to facilitator, Summer by the Sea has not only sparked curiosity and care for the coast for Di, it has left a lasting legacy.
