AFL Central Victoria is thrilled to announce a new partnership with SEDA College VIC , a leading provider of the Victorian Certificate of Education – Vocational Major (VCE VM).

This exciting collaboration will create unique pathways for young people in our region to pursue their passion for sport while completing their senior secondary education.

Congratulations to student Kale Stanton who had the opportunity to coach a young indigenous team at half time as part of opening game. Last weekend was the NBL’s Indigenous round with playing a central role in the festivities.

National NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The First Nations culture is the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.

The 2024 theme is ‘KEEP THE FIRE BURNING! BLAK, LOUD AND PROUD’. This theme echoes the enduring flame of First Nations cultures, shining brightly through adversity and celebrating the richness of First Nations heritage.

The fire represents the cultural heritage and deep connection to Country—alive, warm, and vital.”Blak,” a reclaimed spelling of Black, emphasises pride in First Nations identity.”Loud and Proud” calls for the celebration of First Nations culture openly and unapologetically.

SEDA College students have been involved in some amazing experiences, from surfing with to Ambassador sessions with AFL Legend , Collingwood AFLW player and former Australian cricketer .

We’ve also had the privilege of volunteering at games with and . Our amazing sporting partners , , , , , and have provided coaching, inductions, and inclusion training.
We celebrated International Women’s Day and talked about inclusion and who inspires you and many of our sports started competing in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) competition.

As part of our Student Leadership Day, our student leaders gained valuable insights into leadership, while many students kickstarted their Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) and Clinic days. Additionally, our Building and Trade students had a great time visiting sites and beginning their SWL journey.

It’s been an action-packed term, but we’re excited for what’s to come in Term 2. Enjoy the well-deserved break, everyone!
