Language is a bridge, not a barrier ❤️
Today, 21 February, is Mother Language Day.
This international awareness campaign is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
Mother Language Day was established by UNESCO in 2000. This year, the 25th anniversary provides a special opportunity for us to celebrate traditional languages and cultures in our early learning services!

Today we celebrate all of our wonderful educators! Their dedication and passion for early learning and care significantly shapes the lives of children.
We truly appreciate our educators today and every day.
This year's theme is "Embracing diversity has early beginnings". The theme highlights the vital role that early childhood educators play in fostering a society that values diversity and promotes inclusivity.

Swinburne Children's Centre, Norton Road, Croydon hosted the Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea, last week with educators preparing morning tea platters. We have raised a total of $170.90, which is amazing. Thank you to all the families and educators who supported this worthy cause.

Our View Street babies vegetable garden has been bringing the goods for the start of 2022! This is the second time this year that the babies have harvested fruit and veg that they have grown. After they have had a taste of the produce our community is welcome to take some home. YUM!
Involving children in growing fresh produce provides a creative outlet involving all their senses, it encourages healthy eating, teaches responsibility and helps to build appreciation for the environment.

Diwali is a very special festival celebrated by many of our educators, children and families. Last week we were invited to join in the fun festivities. And Oh. How. We. Celebrated!
Even our organisations Executive Officer Tracey popped in to join us! Families and children are still talking about Diwali, and can't wait for next year!
EYLF Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
Children explore the diversity of culture, heritage, background and tradition and that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings.

Good afternoon families
We have noticed that many families are walking to childcare to collect their children, and bringing their dogs with them.
Following Jordan bringing his own dog, to drop him off last week, we have followed his idea and created a doggie watering station.
Feel free to stop, and allow you dog to have a drink of water.
Next week the Toddler and Kinder rooms will be making doggie biscuits, for sharing with your four legged friends.

The educators in our babies room at View Street have upcycled some old plastic sippy cups - turning them into garden pots for the cot room - rather than adding the old cups to landfill. The children assisted to plant rosemary and mint from our gardens, using their senses to explore these beautiful plants as they worked!
The educators are currently researching environmentally friendly products to use at meal times, as part of their ongoing commitment to sustainability.
We'd love to see your upcycled projects, so please feel free to share below 😁
