At Swinburne Children’s Centre, we’re putting children’s voices at the heart of our service!

We’re excited to introduce the Swinburne Children’s Council: a special opportunity for our Kinder children to step into leadership and help shape the community they are part of.

Through regular meetings, our young leaders will share their ideas, listen to the perspectives of their peers and contribute to decisions about our learning environments, experiences, routines and special events.

We’re nurturing confident, capable children who know that their ideas are valued and that they can make a meaningful difference.

We can’t wait to see the wonderful ideas, thoughtful questions and positive changes our children will inspire!

Spreading joy through community connections!

Our Kinder children enjoyed a special visit to Villa Maria aged care, where they spent time with the residents, sharing smiles, conversations, and wonderful moments together.

These visits support children to build empathy, confidence and respect, while helping them develop meaningful relationships and a strong connection with their community.

Healthy smiles at Swinburne Children's Centre Wantirna!!

Last week our children had a visit from Teeth on Wheels! They enjoyed learning about healthy teeth, practising the correct brushing technique, and discovering which foods help keep their smiles strong and healthy.

Children booked by their families also had the opportunity to visit the dental van for a check-up, where they met Charlie the dog and received a special goodie bag to take home.

A big thank you to the wonderful Teeth on Wheels team for making oral health education fun, interactive, and memorable!

On Wednesday, the Kinder room went out on their first extended bush kinder outing. The Maroondah City Council are creating a dedicated bush kinder site, along the Tarralla Creek Trail, near Taylor's Road. The kinder children meet with officer's from the council to plant the trees, around the site, which included installing tree guards decorated by the children. After eating their lunch, the educators and children spent time exploring the bush kinder site. There were various mushrooms to search for, as well as building a shelter from branches. The walkie talkies were a big hit with the children, all trying to talk with each other.

It was a great experience with all the children enjoying their time at the bush kinder site. A big thumbs up. 👍

Language is a bridge, not a barrier ❤️

Today, 21 February, is Mother Language Day.

This international awareness campaign is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

Mother Language Day was established by UNESCO in 2000. This year, the 25th anniversary provides a special opportunity for us to celebrate traditional languages and cultures in our early learning services!

Today we celebrate all of our wonderful educators! Their dedication and passion for early learning and care significantly shapes the lives of children.

We truly appreciate our educators today and every day.

This year's theme is "Embracing diversity has early beginnings". The theme highlights the vital role that early childhood educators play in fostering a society that values diversity and promotes inclusivity.
