So sad. We have lost one of the greatest educational minds I have ever come across.

Sad news! RIP Sir Ken Robinson ❤️ Grateful for the work of this inspirational, eloquent man. Love this except from his TED talk:

"ROBINSON: I had a great story recently - I love telling it - of a little girl who was in a drawing lesson. She was 6, and she was in the back, drawing. The teacher said this little girl hardly ever paid attention. In this drawing lesson, she did. And the teacher was fascinated. She went over to her, and she said, what are you drawing? And the girl said, I'm drawing a picture of God. And the teacher said that nobody knows what God looks like, and the girl said, they will in a minute.

ROBINSON: Kids will take a chance. If they don't know, they'll have a go. Am I right? They're not frightened of being wrong. Now, I don't mean to say that being wrong is the same thing as being creative. What we do know is if you're not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original if you're not prepared to be wrong. And by the time they get to be adults, most kids have lost the capacity. They have become frightened of being wrong."

Into our second lock-down we go. The Blue House will be here supporting and caring for all of our families. We know how daunting this is and would like to send strength , hope and love to all affected by this situation.

Values
• It’s okay to make mistakes here. If we are not making mistakes, we are not learning.
• Whenever you can’t do something, use the word ‘YET’. “I can’t do it YET”. Never give up!
• Effort is more important than talent or intelligence.
• Think about it! Encourage curiosity. We want to learn because we are interested and curious, not because we are meeting the curriculum.
• Giving and receiving feedback opens the door for improvement. Process Praise Please
• Respect, Responsibility, Care & Compassion and Doing Your Best all form the basis for expected behaviour. Every time you demonstrate undesirable behaviour, think; ‘Was I being responsible or respectful? Was I being the best possible person I could be? Was I caring?’

Hello lovely people visiting my page. I am re-posting this message as I feel it is important.

I have noticed that quite a few people have been visiting my page. When you visit you will have noticed that I do not add new material regularly. This is because most of my current families are fiercely protective of their little peoples privacy and so they should be. I also choose to spend my time creating engaging experiences for the children, as apposed to creating engaging experiences for facebook. Family Day Care is such a wonderful alternative for children and I am so grateful for this wonderful job. If your visit and feel you would like to find out more please contact me as this page does not do justice to what FDC really is.
