🦷✨ **Healthy Smiles at Kealba!** ✨🦷

We were delighted to welcome the dentist to Kealba to check our children’s teeth! 🪥😁

Having dental check-ups here at the service makes the experience easier and less stressful for our children and their families. It means families don’t need to make an extra trip to the dentist, helping make children’s dental care more convenient and accessible. 💙

The children had the opportunity to have their teeth checked in a familiar and comfortable environment, while learning about the importance of brushing, caring for their teeth, and maintaining healthy dental habits.

A big thank you to our wonderful dentist for helping our little ones keep their smiles bright and healthy! 🌟🦷

💛 Exploring Emotions and Building Self-Regulation Skills in Our Toddler Room 💛

At Goodstart Kealba, our toddlers are learning that all feelings are okay and that emotions are an important part of who we are.

Through stories, emotion cards, visual prompts, and hands-on resources, children are encouraged to recognise, name, and talk about how they are feeling. Educators support children to understand emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, excitement, fear, and embarrassment, while introducing simple self-regulation strategies to help them manage big feelings.

By reading books together, using emotion matching activities, and having meaningful conversations, children are learning to:
🌈 Identify and express their emotions.
🧠 Build emotional literacy and confidence.
💙 Develop empathy and understand how others may be feeling.
🌿 Practise calming strategies, such as taking deep breaths, asking for help, reading a book, or spending time in a quiet space.

These everyday experiences help children develop resilience, strengthen their relationships, and build the lifelong social and emotional skills they need to thrive.

At Goodstart Kealba, we're committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels heard, valued, and supported as they learn to understand and regulate their emotions. 💛

🖤💛❤️ Celebrating Culture Through Play and Discovery 💚💙🤍

Our children have been engaging in a meaningful learning experience as they explored the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and discussed the significance of each colour and symbol. Through hands-on resources, artwork and open conversations, children are developing an appreciation for Australia's First Nations Peoples, their rich histories, cultures and connections to Country.

These experiences encourage curiosity, respect and a sense of belonging while supporting children's understanding of diversity and inclusion from an early age. We are proud to create learning environments where every child can explore, ask questions and celebrate the many cultures that make up our community.

Together, we are nurturing respectful, inclusive and culturally responsive learners for the future. 🌿

Australia Wide First Aid - Australia's leading first aid & CPR training provider.

I'm reaching out with an opportunity that will be a great value-add for your families. We're running a free Asthma First Aid course for parents and carers, designed to help them recognise the signs of asthma and respond confidently in an emergency. Your educators are trained to respond if it happens on-site, but most parents have never had the same chance.

We've put together a Parent Pack so that you can share the free asthma course information and how to enrol with parents and carers at your centre.

If this sounds like something your families would benefit from, take a look at the Parent Pack below. I'd love to hear what you think.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

💚🧡 Every Child Deserves to Feel Safe, Heard and Valued 🧡💚

At Goodstart Kealba, creating a child-safe environment is at the heart of everything we do.

Our Child Safe Wall reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, respected and empowered. It showcases our child safety pledges, educator commitments, children's rights, and our shared responsibility to protect and advocate for every child in our care.

One of the most meaningful features is our Child Safe Standards Walk, proudly created with contributions from both past and present children. Through their artwork, ideas and voices, our children have helped shape what safety, kindness and respect mean to them. Their contributions remind us that children have the right to participate, be heard and influence the environments they belong to.

By embedding the Child Safe Standards into our everyday practice, we are fostering a culture where children know they are valued, listened to and supported to speak up.

Together with our families, children and educators, we are building a community where child safety is everyone's responsibility.

💚 Because every child deserves the best possible start in life—and that begins with feeling safe.

🔢 Making Maths Meaningful Through Play!

➕🔢 In our Kindergarten room, maths is all about exploring, experimenting and having fun!

Children have been strengthening their early numeracy skills through engaging, hands-on experiences that encourage counting, number recognition, simple addition, problem-solving and mathematical thinking. Using interactive resources, children are confidently exploring numbers while developing the foundations they'll build on throughout their learning journey.

Learning through play helps children develop confidence, persistence and a love of mathematics in a way that is meaningful and enjoyable.

Every count, every puzzle and every discovery is helping our little learners grow into confident mathematicians! 🌟

♻️ Little Learners, Big Impact!

🌏♻️ Sustainability starts with education, and our Kindergarten children are becoming passionate environmental champions!

This week, children have been exploring recycling, reducing waste and sustainability through interactive learning experiences. They've been sorting recyclable materials, learning what belongs in each bin, discussing ways to care for our planet and discovering how small actions can make a big difference.

These experiences help children develop responsibility, critical thinking and an appreciation for protecting the environment for future generations.

We're so proud of our young eco-warriors who are learning that everyone can play a part in caring for our world. 💚🌱

🫀 The Human Body – Exploring What Makes Us, Us!

🩺❤️ Our Kindergarten children have been diving into the fascinating world of the human body!

Through hands-on learning experiences, children are exploring the different organs, learning about their important jobs, and discovering how our amazing bodies work together every day. Using puzzles, models, books and interactive resources, they are developing their curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and building their scientific understanding through play.

These engaging experiences encourage children to observe, investigate and make connections while expanding their vocabulary and confidence as learners.

At Goodstart Kealba, we love creating opportunities for children to learn through exploration, discovery and meaningful conversations.

🫀 "What does your heart do?" has certainly become a favourite question in our Kinder room!
